Oh Wonder - Lose It (Jerry Folk Remix)

Austria's very own king of edits 'Rough Dice' makes his Media Blackout debut with the wonderful "Fox EP" filled with clever vocal and disco house samples and great club appeal.

"Fox" starts with a cut up funk loop and showcases great sampling work, creating different climates all building around a killer funk groove, lots of trickery and naughty bass, ever growing synth progressions and sweet additions will make this one a memorable one when dropped at any club. Need we say more?

Next up we give you the equally stunning "CVP Grenade", a peak hour groovy number that sways around a huge modulated bass synth and tops things up with intense strings, disco drums and hypnotic vocals.

Third but not least the highly infectious 'Origine' hits the nail on its head with the perfect summer sun groove. Rough Dice definitely delivered the perfect weapon on his Media Blackout debut; just close your eyes and get carried away by the funky house rhythms of 'Fox, CVP Grenade and Origine' that will make you dance, like there is no tomorrow.

Rough Dice - Origine (Original Mix) | Media Blackout MBO047

This is my remix of Figgy's Breathe Slow. I l also work as a mastering engineer and actually mastered the original and got straight on the phone to the guys at Cr2 and asked about remixing it.  

I was very proud of this remix as I really felt I took an important step in developing my sound. I had this idea in my head of blending some vibes from Indie/Shoegaze bands like Foals and Friendly Fires, 80s Pop vibes from artists like Shura and Jessie Ware with my trademark love of 80s Boogie grooves. With this remix I felt I really heard this concept coming together. 

It actually started off as 2 separate ideas - the 80s Boogie vibe and the Slow Jam idea you hear in the breakdown but eventually I put them together and it seemed to work. 

Best enjoyed reclining in the sun!

Douze (@_douze) is Arnault Douze Esteve, a young French producer. First discovered by Kris Menace, he would later become the protégé of the German producer. Their collaboration led on to several tracks produced together on Kris's "Idiosyncrasies" first album followed by a handful of EPs. To this day, Kris and Douze continue to work together - with Douze appearing on Menace’s albums “Features” and forthcoming project “Sun, Moon & Stars” in collaboration with Simon Lord. Following this, Douze worked with another titan of the French house music scene, Alan Braxe, the results of which are still under lock and key in Braxe’s own production vault.

Douze - Zenith

It’s been a while since we’ve heard a track capture the endless summer vibe quite like this! Images of the sun kissed coast, Venice beach, Santa Monica pier and sunset drives down PCH run through our minds instantly when we hear “Out Of My Head” by Parisian producer Douze. And if you recognize those sultry vocals that’s because they come from Moodblanc’s Magnus who was featured on that killer Medsound track from two weeks ago.

The single is lifted from an EP by the same name that features an extended and radio edit version of the title track as well as another absolutely stellar original called “Zenith.” Everything about this track captures the essence and romance of those fleeting summer months. It’s a feeling that you can never really put into words, but always lingers long after the season ends much like this song that totally lives up to its lyrics.

It would be super obvious for me to remix Thriller for Halloween so I decided not to do that. Instead I wanted to remix a track for some reason Michael Jackson never performed live. I always thought that was weird because I bet this track would make all the fine ladies melt <span class="emoji-inner" style="background: url(chrome-extension://immhpnclomdloikkpcefncmfgjbkojmh/emoji-data/sheet_apple_64.png);background-position:45.833333333333336% 77.08333333333334%;background-size:4900%" data-codepoints="1f604">. PYT aka Pretty Young Thing is what I decided to remix around and I really think you're going to like this one!
 
Call me crazy, but I always felt the original song was too fast, so I slowed it down 115bpm. I used the Sequential Drum Traks for the drums. The bassline is from an Oberheim SEM. Plenty of real instruments like my Yamaha upright piano and live percussion.
