Listen to the bootleg of Propagandhi, "Revenge of the MTV Punks", who's views were so damn extremely to the left, managed to get that so-called cali-punk mecca on Gilman Street, go batshit at them for being anti-americanism/anti-militarism (hell, just the lyrics to Hailie Sallasie, Up Your Ass end with a cathartic "fuck zionism/fuck militarism, fuck americanism, fuck nationalism, fuck religion (x16)", after some smart lyrics, the song being a parody of Bad Brains raggae songs, who when playing hardcore were a good band, but still are deep into that pseudo-religion of Rastafari....that Gilman Street crowd almost got them killed before, during and after the show...I guess being Canadian and saying those kind of things about America in 1995 didn't work out with that, non-commercial but nonetheless pop-punk crowd that this club attracted in the 90's. It was a big disappointment to learn all about this, so to me CBGB's remain the one true punk/hardcore mecca.

NOFX was and is still a huge band from San Fran in the 90's, it's when they got a gold record while being on an indie label. They played all those places. AFI in the 90's were much different from what they became in the 2000's, they were one hell of a great East Bay Hardcore band.

Cali punk/melodic hardcore bands that got big mostly started touring all over the place, either if they were from LA or San Fran/East Bay. Oh yeah, there was some shitty Lagwagon/NOFX wannabes that were christian bands from cali...Dogwood, Craig's Brother, Slick Shoes, all of those socal christian bands (who although were propped up by Seattle christian "punk rock" band MxPx). The best punk/hardcore stuff came from the east coast and strangely for a while Chicago, which isn't known for it's punk and metal scenes. Gangsta rap destroyed the great scene we had in Quebec City (although not Montreal, which is Fat Mike's favourite place in north america), that "club" shit you mention destroyed a lot of it, a bunch of shitheads who were into punk-adjacent watered down genres like ska/punk moved to emo, emocore in the early '00s pretty much globally, real shit was still made ofc, but all that emo crap took over most punk scenes for a good while. DC, Boston and NYC had the best stuff in 00's.

Millenials don't get sarcasm...I'm Robbie's age, and I guess millenials are not really people who saw 9/11 when they turned adults, it fits for the people who can't watch a Simpsons episode without being offended by stereotypes, so I guess people who are 30 max by now.

That's too bad, but only Ed Opperman on the left, since 2013, had been talking about Epstein in the underground internet left circles, and since he's willing to talk to all kinds of people in his interviews, the only person he found to talk about Epstein back then was Robert Morrow, a very anti-Clinton, anti-left guy (he has come around regarding Trump and Epstein being much more linked than Clinton and Epstein though), who was the ghost writer for Roger Stone's book "Clinton's War On Women". So yeah, Opperman brought up Epstein before anyone else, but the only person he could get on air with him who knew about this was somebody in Stone's circles, so it got pumped up by the right pretty quickly, but superficially, seconding Opperman in deep Epstein research was Pearse Redmond and the guy kind of gave up on activism through radio/podcasts, so the right were free to isolate Trump from Epstein for a long time, only John Brisson on the right wasn't blindsided by Trump and maga-ism.

And now since 3 years Alex Jones says 9/11 happened exactly as described by Neocons, after David Horowitz convinced him of that "fact". A lot of right-wingers jumped Jones' ship after that, by right-wingers I mean socially conservative people, not politically, in the underground truth circles.

Pete Buttigieg wants to create  “a Senior Cli­mate Secu­ri­ty role in the Sec­re­tary of Defense’s office respon­si­ble for man­ag­ing cli­mate secu­ri­ty risks.” Elizabeth Warren insists “our military can help lead the fight in combating climate change.” And the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis tells us our primary goal should be to “Confront Climate Risks to America’s National Security and Restore America’s Leadership on the International Stage.” Everywhere we turn in liberal discourse, high-profile Democrats and center-left media are framing climate change as a “national security” risk requiring national security solutions.

Politically, it’s a clever enough frame. Like mocking Trump for being too nice to North Korea or latching on to anti-Trump Gold Star families, it’s a cheap and easy way Democrats can drape themselves in the flag while pushing an ostensibly liberal position: We know it’s a real threat because our military takes it seriously and they can be part of the solution - unlike those backwards Republicans we actually care what the generals are saying.

The primary problem with this is that the military speaks of climate change the way Davos discusses "inequality"––in square quotes, as a threat to be managed and mitigated, not solved, and certainly not seen as a moral imperative to be addressed with issues of social justice and racism in mind. The Pentagon, by its own admission, views climate chaos as a risk factor among many, and its primary goal is to protect American capital and the U.S.-led global expansionist  and extractivist economic order: two institutions fundamentally in need of overhaul if climate change is going to be reversed. Indeed turning to the US military to help solve climate crisis is like asking the police to solve institutional racism––at best they can suppress protestors and secure property in the event of mass unrest, but the thing that needs overthrowing is the thing they’re charged most with protecting.
One this second episode of our two-part series on climate chaos, we’ll explain why the DoD––and the military-industrial-complex more broadly––cannot be a partner in the battle against climate change because their prime objective is protecting its main drivers of mindless growth and war, why demilitarization and global cooperation are key to curbing emissions in time, and why creeping militarism, nationalist economic policy in green “tech” and other forms of liberal jingoism are subtly shifting mainstream liberal climate policy to the Right.
