FUNKKY lands back on FOLIAGE RECORDS, this time with THE REALM updating his single SIXTH SENSE. 

SIXTH SENSE was originally released back in 2022 and features the tantalizing vocals of South African songstress NUZU DEEP.

FUNKKY’s story is one of passion, creativity, and cultural exchange. Born and raised in the middle Atlas of Morocco, he was exposed to a diverse range of musical influences from an early age. Drawing on his heritage and cultural background, FUNKKY began producing music that fused traditional North African rhythms with modern electronic beats.

FUTURE MOKOENA aka NUZU DEEP hails from Mpumalanga and has been singing since the age of 8. At 16 she fell love with deep house music whilst trying to impress a boy she liked. Her recording journey started in 2017 and she is fast becoming one of South Africa’s most loved house music voices.

Exclusively crafted for his recent DJ performance at Black Coffee's residency at Hï Ibiza, Atjazz returns to Foliage Records with his 'Galaxy Aart Remixes' of "Glory" by Halo featuring Maiya.

his 'Galaxy Aart' guise, Atjazz skilfully merges afro-jazz sounds with modern production techniques to craft a uniquely innovative interpretation.

From his early days skateboarding through the small towns of Northeast England to managing a successful independent record label, Martin "Atjazz" Iveson has journeyed through producing and remixing for a diverse range of global talent. He has become synonymous with top-tier style, production, and innovation in the independent music scene.

In 2011, our sister label, Reel People Music, released "Found My Light", a single by one of the UK’s most treasured voices, Imaani.

Originally remixed by The Layabouts, "Found My Light" tells a heartfelt story about the joy and fulfilment that motherhood has brought to Imaani’s life.

A decade later, in 2022, our dear friend Atjazz applied his undeniable talents to work on a stunning remix of "Found My Light". More recently, while working on the next edition of the Deep Rooted series (a Foliage Records compilation), he sought to craft something truly unique once again. We are now thrilled to present "Found My Light" (Atjazz Galaxy Aart Remixes).

Originally from Derby, Imaani has spent most of her life in London, where she has crafted a remarkable musical journey. Introduced to the music world by the legendary Jocelyn Brown, who nurtured the seeds of her talent, Imaani has never looked back! 

Her career has flourished through her strong connection with the UK’s most celebrated Jazz Funk band, Incognito. She has recorded on several of their albums, including  "Eleven", "Beneath The Surface", "Adventures in Black Sunshine", "Bees & Things & Flowers", "Tales from the Beach", "Incognito 30th Anniversary Live" and "Surreal". Over the course of her longstanding relationship with Incognito, Imaani has completed multiple world tours and continues to perform live with the band.

Significant other recording partnerships have come with our very own Reel People ("Amazing" feat. Tony Momrelle), whilst moving into the house arena, firstly with Defected Records artist Copyright ("Wizeman" / "Nobody") and latterly with The Layabouts ("Fearless" / "Too Late") on the Future Retro album and then on Foliage with "Shine" & "Stay".

Here's a 5+ hour set from a beautiful night in Vancouver with the Soul Hop crew.  The soundsystem at Vantek was singing, the crowd were getting down and it was one of those nights where 5 hours felt like 1 hour.  Big love to James and Soren and looking forward to doing it all again with Ladymonix on 31st May at Industrial 236.

Papa Records proudly presents a brand-new remix of a modern soulful house classic: DJ Fudge feat. Barbie Mak – “Something”, reimagined with deep, hypnotic flair by producer Cubanix.

Originally released on our sister label Foliage Records in 2020, “Something” brought together French house pioneer DJ Fudge, a producer with more than two decades shaping soulful and Afro-infused house, and Hong Kong’s own Barbie Mak, whose rich, emotive vocals cut across soul, jazz, and house with ease. The track quickly became a standout moment in both artists’ catalogues.

Now, Cubanix – the production alias of David Reyero, one of deep house’s most exciting new names – steps up with a fresh interpretation. Known for refined, groove-led productions that balance underground sophistication with soulful energy, Reyero delivers a remix that pulls the original into deeper territory, layering smooth rhythms with atmospheric textures designed for late-night dancefloors.

With this remix, “Something” continues its journey as a timeless piece of house music, now reimagined for a new generation of dancers and DJs.
