You Don't Need To Bleed (To Be Wounded)

(LOUD) Another great vocal by actor and musician, Spencer Jones. Despite its 'feelgood', anthemic quality, the song is not intended to be a flippant 'celebration' of a(ny) mental health condition - an issue I respect and take seriously. Until recently, the embarrassed silence regarding the subject was almost deafening. Which is the whole reason for this raucous song, demonstrating the narrative character's absence from guilt and shame: "I want all the world to know!..." The song attempts to subvert the veil of silence which invariably accompanies any form of mental illness - and many physical ones too. (Almost as bad as the condition itself is the stigmatizing sense of 'shame' which accompanies it.) Its lyric also begs the question: who and what is 'normal'? (In a world gone mad, bad, and dangerous to know.) Normality is a deception...

I'm Just Having A Breakdown (I Want All The World To Know)

A mainstream, 'old-school', soulful ballad, about recovery and maintaining hope, in the face of grief and tragedy - be that personal or in a social context  (subjected, as we all are to the most appalling tragedies, through the global news media). 
 

Tomorrow (Is A Brand New Morning)

Soulful, 1970s/Chic-influenced, 'feel-the-lurve' groove, with a repetitive, spoken 
verse, in a narrative which reveals a man's memories of  his first 'ships-in-the-sight' 
love encounter.  Written, arranged, and produced by Jimmy D.

Show Me Your Loving

[From 1984] Early 'Electro-Dub'. Take a trip through the mashed-up mind of a man, broken by love. Released on own Urban label, as a teenager (almost). This B-side, at almost 8 mins long, was mastered by the legendary George Peckham (of Porky's disc cutting fame) and received many plays in clubs throughout London and UK, at the time. Recorded entirely on a Yamaha DX7 (then state of the art), a Simmons electric drum kit (remember them?), and an electric guitar. Only 1000 ever pressed up. (See You Tube vid for more info.)

Come On And Rescue Me (Imagination)

Eclectic, transatlantic, rocking, pop-soul song about making a positive change - on the street and in life. Here's the message: SAY NO TO BAD STREET KARMA...(Check out the lyrics on You Tube video.) Inspired, in part by the late, great Curtis Mayfield. (We Gotta Have Peace, etc.)
