Medikul - Do It Like

R.Lyle - The Tempest (Thru Colours Remix)

 Second in the remixes series is a bountiful selection of spins on R.Lyle’s The Tempest EP. This remixes EP see’s further Future Bubbler Alumni R.Lyle’s friends take on the five experimental, bass-focused takes on UK underground music. The original tracks took bass music into five very different directions and the remixers do each justice in pushing them further away. EP opener Dire Situation is a four-to-the-floor, pulsing halftime remix from Nottingham bass stalwarts Congi, another new direction for their sound from what has been a very interesting and successful couple of years for the duo. The second remix is from label boss Medikul, who was worked in a much heavier than usual take on R.Lyle’s Militia, which sees Medikul drift into realms that somewhat nod to his earliest productions when first discovering his passion for underground electronic music. Third is a fast-paced, high energy robotic tantrum of a remix of Hejira from Brien Manley, and the fourth, a solid techno version of the title track The Tempest by Thru Colours who takes generous portions of the source material and a kick heavy journey. Finally there is a dark, yet calming remix of Reverence by Lewis Ashley which brings the tone of the EP to a gentle finish which keeping heads nodding. Overall, a wonderful celebration of The Tempest EP through amazing re-takes by friends and family.

  This time the release is supporting local Nottingham charity “Bras not Bombs”. This is a purely volunteer led charity ran by a super passionate Nottingham local, collecting and fundraising to send new underwear and sanitary care packages to vulnerable women and girls in war-torn countries and refugee camps across the world. Helping those who are having to deal with the discomfort and humiliation of having no clean underwear nor cleaning products in camps currently across Europe and the Middle East. Bras not Bombs will be recieving 100% of our profits on this record.

Future Bubblers alumni, owner of experimental beats imprint Homemade Music, Benjamin 'Medikul' seeks to blur the lines between different styles of underground music and continue to push the sounds of other like-minded underground beat makers in the UK.
