Robert Calvin (Interstellar Tracks, Factor City, Turbo / Madrid)

Durante años se dijo que en España había pocos productores de música electrónica teniendo en cuenta la gran cantidad de consumidores entusiastas del género y la proliferación de vocaciones de DJ. Por eso mismo el caso de Robert Calvin aka Groof era extraordinario: un madrileño que venía sacando discos desde 1998 y que en 2004 había publicado en Disko B y Turbo entre otros... referencias que, en realidad sólo eran la parte más vistosa de una carrera que ya era de largo recorrido y asombrosamente prolífica, repartida entre infinidad de sellos, proyectos y estilos diferentes, que podían ir de las influencias EBM, al techno electroide, la dark wave y más allá. Una carrera que todavía perdura y que en los últimos tiempos ha dado señales de vida en Interestellar Tracks, devotos practicantes de un estilizado italo.

Solvent is Jason Amm, a robot music composer, analog synthesizer fetishist, and co-founder of the reknowned Suction Records label. Born in Zimbabwe in 1972, Solvent currently resides in a room full of machines in Toronto, Canada.

Solvent has created his own unique version of electro-pop: too elegant and sincere for the electroclash set, too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honoured traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of IDM.
