Continuing to expand their repertoire further afield into the realms of drum & bass, Hospital Records proudly welcome Soulvent Records into the family! Soulvent has been at the forefront of the new generation of drum and bass since 2014. Founded by Joe Goss, Jack (Pola) Higgins and Liam Holyoak-Rackal, it all started over a conversation at a dubstep rave in the toilets. Since then, Soulvent have gained a reputation for their high calibre releases and vibe-packed events. The ‘Soulvent Meets Hospital’ compilation sees both imprints unite over 14 brand spanking new remixes of a selection of classics from the Hospital and Soulvent back catalogues - this is a serious sound collision!

Tuck straight into the album with Nu:Tone’s dreamlike remix of the soul-oozed ‘Butterfly Effect’ by GLXY featuring Hugh Hardie and Visionobi. With the original racking up well over 1 million streams as well as support from Skankandbass, it is without a doubt one of Soulvent’s most remarkable releases. Nu:Tone delivers mesmerizing rolling drumwork, fluttering synths and his signature deep bassline injections on his 2022 remix.

Hugh Hardie steps up to the plate on remix duties for Japan-based Mountains’ electrifyingly feel-good track ‘I’m Free’ (feat. Kojo)’. Taking it into darker territories, Hugh switches it up and provides an upbeat stepper layered with mind warping basses and skittery plucks which are a sublime complement to the original which was taken from Mountain’s debut self-titled LP on Soulvent Records in March 2022.

Rising talent and one-to-watch DJ and producer Vektah has been making noise in the scene since his debut EP ‘Culture Shift’ dropped on Soulvent last year. Vektah heads up a jungle infused remix of Fred V’s ‘Program & Control’, taken from Fred V’s debut solo album ‘Radiate’. Expect enchanting chimes, shimmering synthesis and crystal clear percussion.

Weighty drum and bass wizard Whiney further blesses Vektah’s ‘Request’ from the Soulvent
VA EP series ‘Tonics: Batch 1’ which shone a light on some of the scene’s mosst exciting upcoming talent. Whiney crafts up an instant rave damager with system thumping wobbles and pounding drums.

Staples of the drum & bass scene Pola and Bryson delve deeply into Bop x Subwave’s lofi-meets-electronica inspired anthem ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’. On this rendition, the duo continue to demonstrate their multifaceted production styles through crisp percussion and gorgeous atmospherics.

Set for release the day of DDD’s groundbreaking takeover at Denver’s Mission Ballroom - across the three tracks, New Zealand’s bass wizards take you on a mythical journey from the sublime to the ridiculous - pushing the fabric of dubstep’s possibilities, before reality sets back in with a bang. 
Working with long-time collaborator, Lelijveld, EP opener Empty is a sublime piece of melancholic beauty that doesn’t hold back when the drops flex - with stunning vocal refrains making way for savage synth lines across triplet percussive patterns.
Next comes the eponymous Woden, the powerful norse god and ‘leader of the possessed’. Hellbent on soundsystem destruction, the heavy wubs return with devastating effect to fire off at any being in range. 
EP closer Narwhal is as cold as the toothed whale’s arctic ocean habitat - as delayed snares fire off like the disintegrating ice it passes as it migrates to warmer climes, with trippy arpeggios accompanying the threatening low frequencies.

•	Horizons Music have time and time again upheld their ethos. This is something which is becoming abundantly clear with each release. Their mission statement is to deliver only the best, most versatile and dynamic pieces of static artwork and to ensure they line the sets of artists from every DJ type. It’s impossible not to become entrenched within their discography, every part of it as spectacularly moulded as the next. And it’s the artists they hand pick for their roster which makes their music so especially perfect for late night rendezvous on the dancefloor. Villem & Mcleod, two artists whose synergy is apparent from each release they’ve put out together. It’s an energy which is about to take the helm once again; throughout the next three tracks Horizons Music will further lodge itself within your musical subconscious.

•	‘Wonderful’ opens the EP with an intricately written intro, including lofty piano notes and shaking percussion. With a bassline that quivers and flutes which add to its waif-like atmospherics, prepare to be taken into the sound of Villem and Mcleod. However, the light has a darker side, and you’re quickly plunged into a low frequency distortion of bass. Female vocals add yet another shade, dicing up the segments and presenting a huge colour palette of sound. ‘Spiritual Value’ and ‘Mystic Ritual’ both give a valuable insight into the minds of Villem & Mcleod, but channel their own vibe individually. ‘Spiritual Value’ bleats through elongated note arpeggios and precarious samples of speech. But as always, they take you down a murkier path and drop the level two or three notches below zero. Following this up, ‘Mystic Ritual’ switches up a notch, this time not leaving you guessing and firing you synapses first through a chasm of plucky strings and carefully laid out pads. Drums push through the mix giving it an edgier feel, whilst vocals are utilised to soften the blow. The drop, although slightly less illusive, still catches you off guard. You find yourself brought forward on a jazzy riddim, one that’ll take you into the darkest nights of any club. Horizons present a package of three delights.

How many times have you opened a bag of chips only to be disappointed by the measly amount in the bag? How many times have you spent 50, 100 dollars at the grocery store, returned home and said out loud, “This is all I got?”  How many articles of clothing have you outgrown, ruined, lost, or simply decided that it isn’t “you” anymore?  How many songs have you actually paid for, and then come back to it later and wondered why you ever bought it?  We’ve all been there, plagued by these particular first-world problems.  We all wonder where the money goes, and whose pocket it lines.  Today more than ever, consumers like you and I are interested in the end user.  We want to know exactly who our dollars endorse.  In the case of music sales, we all want the creative intelligences behind our favorite sounds to reap the benefits of our praise and support.  We want the artists, labels, venues, and promoters we love to know it and see the evidence of it in receipts.  This is how the world operates for now.  Purchasing power is the consumer’s weapon and soapbox.  We put our money where our mouth is, and companies, corporations, governments, even nations listen.  Yet, there are a billion small purchases made every day that have literally NO REAL VALUE.  Like Chinese food, we buy a ton of it and are hungry an hour later.

What if you could eat one meal that satisfied your hunger, satisfied your pleasure center, nourished and energized you for the whole year?  Wouldn’t that meal be infinitely more valuable than any other?  Wouldn’t you like, for once, to get way more than you paid for?  This is how we at Betamorph Recordings feel about the Dubsteppers for Haiti project.  We believe the satisfaction gained from every dollar spent on these tracks exceeds that of that of any other album on the market.  Here’s why.  We know the tracks on the release are bangers.  We’ve worked tirelessly with the artists refining some tunes, re-mastering and re-working others, and also securing brand new tunes, so that every track is a unique version just for this release.  Some of our favorites include Tim Ismag’s “X-Men”, D-Jahsta’s “Slug Bass”, Fonik’s “Pain Game”, and “London Riots” from Rednek.  All in all we’ve included 31 top-notch pieces so we know there will be something for everyone, and plenty of it.  We’ve made it available through all quality digital download avenues including our own website, so we know that it’s accessible to every human being that can get to a computer. 

Finally, and of the utmost importance,  every dollar or two that you would pay for each track goes toward our account with the Haitian Health Foundation http://www.haitianhealthfoundation.org/index.php/programs/development-projects/ .  In the past, we have made our contributions through Americares, but this time we wanted to use a group that was more specifically oriented in Haiti, so that we will be able to track our contribution and know exactly who it goes to and how it benefits them.  With this particular foundation we are able to finance 3 things that will literally make and entire family live better for years to come.  We will contribute a goat, an out-house style enclosed bathroom, and an entire house built from concrete with a tin roof and a finished floor.  These items will significantly improve a families quality of life almost immediately.  Disease, famine, and poverty, decimate the population each year.  For a Haitian family, a goat means income from selling milk, and meat;  not to mention the pride and emotional satisfaction that comes from raising living things.  Living in the U.S.A., many of us are unaware that more people in the world live without any form of proper waste removal facility, than do.  Giving a family a real toilet will dramatically decrease their susceptibility to disease and bacterial infection, added to that, is the protection of the enclosed home which will keep out rodents, insects, predators, and the elements, which are all killers to a family that sleeps on the ground in ramshackle huts.  

We do this in the spirit of oneness, brotherhood, and duty.  In 2012 we pledge to make internal changes that will increase our outward flow of energy to the coffers of humanity’s well-being.  We will grow as a company and as individuals, because of our efforts, to contribute to that which saves us all.
