On All Sides is a graphic score piece for one (or four) performer(s) by Meerenai Shim. It’s a choose-your-adventure type of piece which requires a lot of creativity on the part of the performer(s). In the solo version, the performer rotates the single-panel score 90 degrees for each movement. In the quartet version, each performer reads the music with the panel rotated to their part. This piece is explores ideas used in Meerenai’s Blueprint, a location specific woodwind quartet written for the 2016 Soundwave Biennial. It was premiered on November 13, 2020 at the Center for New Music (San Francisco).
