It all of a sudden occurred to me that today marks the fifth birthday of Distant! That is ridiculous! The way it has grown in the last few years has exceeded all my expectations. With four crazy sold out nights in De Marktkantine and a Beach edition just a few weeks away, we are working on even more amazing stuff. All thanks to your support. Distant Episode 60 / July 2022

Is has been two months since I started this full time music adventure and I gotta say, it has been such a relief being able to focus on one thing. I've been enjoying producing music way more, touring seems less stressful and more new exciting things are in the works every day. Today is such a day. Today my remix for Tinlicker is out on Anjunadeep! Very excited about that and it is, of course, included in this months episode. Let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy it! <3

Distant Episode 61 / August 2022

As cliche as it sounds: it is especially in difficult times that I can find peace in music. It makes me actually feel the things I’m dealing with more profoundly, bringing emotions to the surface. Creating the space to explore them, understand them and accept them. For me, this is such a set. This months episodes explores some very beautiful and emotional music. Hopefully it brings you some of its healing power ❤️

Distant Episode 62 / September 2022

Life clearly has its ups and downs and, more often than not, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. Sometimes all you can do is just to let it happen. It's an odd feeling to completely let go of any desire to change things or impulses to act. It feels stressful, but it's funny how much more peaceful it may feel. Maybe try it for this new episode, let it the music just flow through you and let me know how it felt. Enjoy <3

With the huge, gigantic enormous ADE music festival just behind us, it is so beautiful to see the shear power that music has on our lives. The universal power to bring people together and the joy it brings. Witnessing this makes me even more exited for the upcoming Distant event (or events) planned for this year. If you attended ADE, I hope you had a great time. If you didn't go, hope you had a great time too. Maybe we'll meet on the dance floor again soon. Distant Episode 64 / November 2022

And once again we get to close another incredible year. One where we thought we could finally recuperate a little, but from the get go had to start climbing the next hurdle. And still it brought so many things. Joy, misery, excitement, fear, grief, life. It brought me closer to the people around me, got me to connect on deeper levels. It brought me closer to all of you, closer to my purpose in life. We will get there, to the other side. One hurdle at a time. One episode at a time.

Ever realised that when the rollercoaster that is life decides to start rolling, it feels like everything happens all at once. Out of the first corner, the next immediately knocks you back in your seat. I guess that's what makes it exciting, but also extremely overwhelming. In moments like this, and yes I know it sounds cliche AF, nothing slows me down more than listening to music with my undivided attention. Closing my eyes and let the sound and emotion take me anywhere they want to. That's exactly why I started Distant over five and a half years ago. And boy, am I more grateful than ever. Distant Episode 67 / February 2023

In my humble opinion, this might be one of my favourite episodes of the last few months! It also includes some new music I've been working on lately. I'm very proud of how it all turned out! Writing this last part, I had the overwhelming urge to delete it right away. It's interesting how difficult it is to publicly say you're proud of something and mean it, without getting the feeling of being pretentious. It sometimes feels like we are only supposed to focus on the things we can do better to grow and improve, leading to us to lose sight of what we're actually achieving in the process. I know I always do. It's such a calming and liberating feeling to say you're truly proud of something. Hope you find the space to feel proud of your achievements, even if it's of the tiniest thing. Distant Episode 68 / March 2023

Still, even after 69 (nice) episodes and multiple events, I find it hard to fathom what Distant has become. Last Friday we managed to sell out the most iconic venue in the Netherlands! That's ridiculous. So many beautiful people that come together for something that I started in my bedroom many years ago. It's such an honour and overwhelming experience to be able to share my passion with so many of you. To hear the significance and importance of Distant to some people, is absolutely unintelligible. I can't wait to find out what Distant will grow up to be. Let's keep this train rolling with this months episode. I hope you enjoy <3
