An era that I was too young to club in, but never too young to listen and appreciate. Full of vibrancy - in its fashion, diversity and in the music itself.

The track came about from my obsession with UK Garage. As soon as I began collecting records, it was clear which genre I was after - and to this day contains my most expensive record. (Antonio - Closer for those wondering)

Once I made the instrumental, I always had the idea of having a pirate radio vocal version. But I wanted to keep it original and ended up finding Henry (Baitup) on Insta. We connected and he fully done his thing in one session - big up.

Stripped back, but never lacking – Mees Mattern’s sound is all about minimalism with impact. Hailing from Utrecht, he’s known for his ability to strip away the unnecessary, leaving only the essential grooves that make the dance floor move. Mees has played at top venues like Thuishaven and Shelter, where his straightforward sets keep things deep and to the point. With a no-frills approach, he proves that sometimes less truly is more.

On top of that, Mees is one of four minds behind Naked Records, together with Khun, Glem and Luis Ripa they made a label that cuts through the noise with raw, stripped-back electronic music. Built on pure grooves and unfiltered energy, Naked Records is all about delivering the essentials that move the dance floor, no extras needed.
