Hundreds of drones scrambled beneath a swirling sky as they raced to finish the construction of their monolithic aluminum kin, a masterstroke of technological progress that aimed its apex directly at the eye of the storm above. For years the coming of this cataclysmic event had been known, and from that day the building of the metallic superstructure had begun, but the storm had come a day early and now threatened all of the progress that had been made. In a few short hours, the incalculable ferocity of the gale was set to be supercharged by a coinciding solar flare that would send the forces that churned within it into overdrive, creating a storm that could swallow the world.

Standing below in defiance to this outcome was the drones’ creation, a mass array of rocketry set to bear forth the greatest payload ever delivered from their world. Atop the ship’s stacks of thrusters was a massive satellite, dangerous in its own right for its ability to create conditions much like those that loomed above. Yet beyond the reaches of the planet’s atmosphere, this satellite would be the world’s single attempt to prevent their own destruction, a cosmic parry with only an hour-long window of effect. By emitting a vast amount of oppositely charged particles in the face of the oncoming flare, the satellite would rebuff the energy that threatened to amplify the already destructive storm to apocalyptic proportions. As the surface of the sun roiled with fusion wrought energy, the rocket shot up into the sky, and all on the planet bated their breath in the uncertainty of what would come next.

Following his appearance on EATBRAIN’s Divergence III compilation CHASER now makes his full debut on the label with BLASTPIT, an EP well-named upon the strength of the sonic power that is contained within. The five tracks of the EP feature explosive basslines combined with piercing percussion and an array of samples & synths that all share CHASER’s high-tech sound and promise to supercharge the fervor of the EATBRAIN horde.

Shanks was a project announced on ProgRAM last year and it was one of the imprint's most defining parts for 2021. Wanting to remain anonymous to let the music do the talking, their first EP together did exactly that, with ‘The Outer Limits’ setting a pace for the duo. One which they're now about to match with another landmark release. With very little social presence, despite having a historic stake within the U.S. Bass scene, Shanks continue their involvement within the genre through another brand-new EP – their forthcoming ‘Skull & Bones’ package.

For this next output, Shanks and AFK join forces for the jagged bass riffs of ‘Lose Me’, followed by the thumping segments laid out across ‘Born Ready’ alongside famed vocalist Armanni Reign, a frequent face on ProgRAM's sister label RAM Records. Meanwhile, title-track ‘Skull & Bones’ slams into third place with its urgent rave stabs and the EP is wrapped up by ‘’95 Dub’, reminiscing on the pair's old-school roots. So once again, it’s time to get with the ProgRAM. A label constantly reshaping itself through the worldwide talent they have at their fingertips.

He likes hip-hop, skateboarding, schnitzel, Leibniz biscuits and long walks in the sunset, but he’s most respected for how he traipses across electronic music’s wildest terrains with total boundary abandonment… And is regarded as a leading influential new-gen figure in the genre. 

From his agenda-setting halftime twist of ‘Sunday Crunk’ to his rolling, emotional collabo cameo on Camo & Krooked’s acclaimed album ‘Mosaik’. From his entrance into the Fabriclive mix hall of fame with a mix album comprising entirely of his own productions (‘Fabriclive 95’) to his Drum&BassArena Award-winning debut album ‘Emulation’, Mefjus’s signature sound has been felt across the furthest expanses of the genre since he emerged in the early 2010s. 

Now working closely with Vision - the label run by kindred studio spirits Noisia - Mefjus continues to fine-tune his musical syntax, technical dexterity, eye for detail and deft groove sensibilities. The latest chapter to savour this on-going flux of development is his second album ‘Manifest’.

Released April 2018, ‘Manifest’ is the sound of Mefjus 2.0. After several years in the studio wilderness, exploring the dark science of song structure, musicality and textural contrasts, ‘Manifest’ captures a new mindset for Mefjus. Raw, energetic, playful and subversive, ‘Manifest’ is the most personal, diverse and daring body of work to date. Not so much as reminder of why he occupies such a unique position in drum & bass but a straight-up statement of intent.
