The @garage-girls are the real life heroines of which the famous swashbuckling novel ‘Les Trois Femmes de Garage’ is based on. It recounts the adventures of three chivalrous DJs who play garage music to fight against injustice and topple the male dominated absurdities of the Ancien DJ Régime. The plot follows DJ NORTHERN who leaves her family in Huddersfield and travels to Berlin to become a DJ. One day, she is invited to play some tunes at a WG party in Neukölln-sur-Kiehlufer, where she meets a London/Birmingham DJ duo called @the-honey-tapes. Unfortunately, they were also English, however, this meant they were also well versed in the art of UK garage and the three decide to play back2back2back. The tunes are pumping and the vibes are cooking until a bunch of chauvinistic twats from the Ancien DJ Régime turn up unannounced. Word on the street is that a trio of ladies are playing dope garage music. Feeling threatened by this new female presence on the scene, they begin to deride the Garage Girls mixing style. Insulted, the girls demand a DJ duel, but the lads instead destroy the decks with a cooking pot and steal all their records. Disgusted by this turn of events, the Garage Girls decide to fight inequality in music by starting their own collective and party series. Shortly after reading ‘Les Trois Femmes de Garage’, Comte Skain de Aquitaine immediately sent word to the real-life Garage Girls, inviting them to play a set chez Château de la Buff. Tune in this Friday to watch these ladies lay down some serious 2Step ting and hear the exclusive interview of their story thus far.
