summertime (for Luna Cove)

I wrote this song on New Year's Day, 2013 and it hasn't found a home all year long. At the time, I thought it might be fun to write a song for every holiday in the year, like an indie version of Holiday Inn, but I got distracted by other (hopefully better) ideas. Now this year is almost over. What better way to prepare for the new year than to set a song free?

the ocean is always there, whether I think of it or not
whether I visit it or not
I have tried to love that way, but I need more.
there is vastness in walking on the night beach, names carved,
mounds and moats from the afternoon like artifacts
