Sound Avenue keeps the labels strong momentum going with their 20th release which sees the return of one of Turkey's finest producers to the label for his first EP. Mehmet Akar first came to our attention when he was announced as one of the finalists in Sasha's Burn Studios remix competition last year. Subsequent productions for Manual and Outside The Box solidified Mehmet as a strong up and coming talent in the electronic music underground. Sound Avenue is proud to present Mehmet's 'Take Care of Yourself EP' which comes with three brand new original productions.

The EP gets underway with 'The Edge Of Nowhere' which begins with some very moving melodic elements and glimmering atmospheric accents. The introduction of a silky smooth and incredibly soulful vocal adds even further emotional depth to the production. Warm harmonies and subtle electronic intricacies carry the track through its second act where additional vocal wails and heavenly chord changes provide some amazing goose bump moments.

The second offering and also the EPs title cut 'Take Care Of Yourself' follows with a similarly poignant melodic vibe. An incredibly funky and harmonically pleasing bass line roots the composition with soft vocal gates and a meandering atmosphere surrounding the framework. This leads to the main break which showcases some gorgeous musicality and a spoken word radio sample which oozes character. The track closes with the smooth bass tones and wavering harmonics creating a sleek flow of melodies that are perfect for today's contemporary dance floors.

The EP is capped off with 'Grey Morning' which certainly goes down as one of Mehmet's most fashionable sounding pieces to date. A well crafted groove brings a smooth flow to the track while scattered pianos and a waning melodic tone provide some perfect dulcet moments. The scenic sounding break sounds tailor made for a well educated back room and as the track picks back up those scattered pianos never sounded better as the track concludes with a smooth and soulful finish.

"Waiting For The Daylight" is a song about a conversation between an Astronaut and his wife. 
The spaceman has been stuck out there for years and is reaching a breaking point. 
He is a kind man on a mission but shows his fragility when he asks about his kids. 
Not knowing what time it is and not being able to listen to his music while even more frighten aliens cross his spaceship is testing very hard on his control. 
He spins between satellites but his hope for the daylight to appear is his only lifeline. 

Dino Lenny about this track: 
"I wrote this track badly playing my 100 year old Piano (recorded with my iphone)   
I was in my living room but like it often happens I felt I was out there in Space. Wondering about and feeling deep immerse in a mission that I didn't really care about.. 
I sometimes ask myself what is the point? But then as usual at the lowest step..  the light appears and I feel like a child in a sweet shop!" 

About Dino Lenny: 
Dino Lenny starts very young as a radio deejay in a small town of the South of Italy, Cassino. After a few years of experience, in the early mid nineties, he is crowned "master of ceremonies" of the Maltese nights, gathering more than 2000 people on the famous Axis' dancefloor. He grows up within an interesting group of lads such as Savino Martinez and Claudio Coccoluto, and in 1996 he decides to seek fortune in the United Kingdom, his native country. In London his career gets a boost thanks to a long series of important remixes: Inxs, Underworld, Missy Elliot, Timbaland etc and the collaborations with The Housemartins, Scissors Sisters & Madonna just to mention a few names. His productions are just as interesting as the remixes and Dino Lenny earns for three times in a row the label of " Essential New Tune" on Radio One (BBC) by Pete Tong. 
Considered "The Wizard of the Electronic music" by the Chemical Brothers, Dino Lenny explores the full range of his potentialities and starts singing. With a simplifying abbreviation of his name, Dino records the single “Call me” which becomes a terrifically popular track all over Europe. The British press defines his vocal talent as a halfway between the Talking Heads and Ian Dury. Dino shows up a perfect Serpico style and sings in front of his raving fans at Tops of the Pops. 
The successful single gives just a hint of what will happen with the release of the album "Might". 
Whilst busy with more important collaborations, Dino is invited by Hardage to take part to his project which includes Jocelyn Brown and Maxi Priest , Level 42 and Peter Gabriel, amongst the others. 
He produces with Steve Lawler under the name Sladly the well received “Unicorn” and writes the soundtrack for one episode of CSI Miami in the middle of the preparation of the next “solo” album. 
A few months later Dino Lenny flies to Montreal to open the UNICEF concert - which gathers more than 7,000 people.  
Dino warms up the audience for Avril Lavigne and at the end of 2011 he performs live with Skin & Underworld at The Brixton Academy 
Lenny has also written the soundtrack for one episodes of CSI Miami and also for Irvine Welsh's film "Ecstasy" 
After David Byrne's approval "I Wanna be Like Talking Heads/ A Dj Deep Inside" gets released on Strictly Rhythm. 
The story continues on his favourite label of the moment.. while he's still "Waiting For The Daylight" to come out soon on Exploited!

Mehmet Akar is an independent electronic music producer/ DJ from Turkey born in 1985, İstanbul. His creative streak began in the mid 90s, but not in the music field. Turntables, vinyls and headphones were not a part of his childhood toys as this is the story with most DJs around the world, but rather, his artistic ability manifested in the drawing field of comic strips and cartoons. He began his creation with music in the early days of 2005, while studying at the university. His first set got recognized and broadcasted by Frisky Radio which scored him a monthly residency with the team. Soon after, in a short period of time, Mehmet started working on his own productions where his first tracks got released by well known labels such as Manual Music, LNOE, Perspectives, Stripped and got the support of many top DJs around the world. Soon, in the following years, Mehmet got a chance to play outside of his country and at some good local venues. During that time, Mehmet got his first DJ gig at Ankara’s most famous club Faceless.

Durring the summer of 2011 he proved one more time that he is on the right track by winning the “Next Producer Star Remix” contest hosted by Burn Energy Drink. As a result of his winning, Mehmet got hand picked by Sasha himself to join Burn Studios for Sasha and Richie Hawtin's special workshop at SEA Institude. But Mehmet did not stop there. In the following years he released almost 100 tracks at digital download stores along with many DJ sets where he also provided free tracks to his fans. Thanks to these releases and radio shows, Mehmet got the chance to spread his music all around the world. He performed at popular clubs of countries such as Argentina, Bulgaria, Russia, Romania, Cyprus, Tunisia and Thailand. At the same time, he continued to work and play at İstanbul’s underground dance music scene. He started his residency at Tamirci Karakoy which was one of the legendary underground clubs of its time. There, he introduced his deep and dark musicial journey on house and techno flows to the Turkish clubbers. After meeting the Beatgate crew at Tamirci, Mehmet started to play at many events as their artist at venues like Indigo, Kafes, Module, Koma and Karantina Alacati.

In the beginning of 2014, Mehmet joined the sound and music technologies industry. He started an e-commerce project for the biggest PA company of Turkey. In four years, the project he started became the number one site in its field. He also worked in this company as Pioneer DJ and Allen & Heath’s brand manager. After his years working for this company, Mehmet got the unique experience about music technologies & equipments. Although, those years were challenging for him because of the work load, he did stop to release music and perform no matter how rare it was.

In 2018, Mehmet founded SonarHouse Electronic Music School located in the heart of İstanbul: Galata. He is an instructor of Ableton and DJing who inspire his students to become qualified producers and DJs. In a very short period of time, Mehmet and his team have accomplished a great success by becoming the best electronic music school in town. Many of his students have started releasing tracks and performing at well-known venues not only of İstanbul but also other cities in Turkey.

After all these years of experience, he’s still committed to discovering the best version both of himself and his music. He’s currently working on his new project Stamp Music and continues to release tracks.
