"An Evening At Bunsley Hall" is a library funk party jam led by a vintage string machine melody over a Roland TB-303 bassline (being used the way Roland intended back when they thought it was going to replace bass players.)
"Behind The Scenes" is an excerpt from a BBII jam session featuring some bass guitar pulling, funky synth and plenty of guitar solos.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (17th July) Funkstorung return to Solid Steel this week, having been guests back in 2001 (you can hear that mix in the 'Featured' section at SolidSteel.net ). After releases on Studio K7, Compost and Chocolate Industries and remixes for Bjork, Wu Tang and Jean Michel Jarre, they took a break for 10 years. Now they are back and their latest self titled album is out now on Monkeytown. A remixes EP follows in August that features a remix by Mouse on Mars that's included in their mix. They had this to say;
"This mix has everything Funkstörung is about.  Poppy vocals vs. weird beats, nice melodies vs complex sounds… all in a funky suit.
To us the mix feels like a journey… it's stuff from the past, yet unreleased tracks and 'classics' (in our eyes).
It has been a big honour to do another Solid Steel Mix… over 10 years after we did the last one.  It definitely feels really good to be back."

October saw the start of our ten-week Debut season in conjunction with 50WEAPONS, to celebrate their last ever ten releases. This week sees Cosmin TRG passing the baton to Phon.o, for the second instalment in the series.

Maybe due to its context as one of 50WEAPONS' last ever releases, the tone of "Tw33tz" is richly nostalgic. A big, four-by-four house beat upholds an indulgent, soaring synth melody, easily giving into a feeling that's deeply reminiscent of the melancholic euphoria taking place around about 4am on dancefloors worldwide. As a label whose releases are known to touch on all spectra of Berlin's dance music, 50WEAPONS ticks a more conventional box with "Tw33tz" – with a suitably neurotic teeth-clencher by Paula Temple on the flip, just to remind you that 50WEAPONS will continually catch you off-guard. We warmly welcome back Kettel who makes his return to Clone/DUB records since his debut Cenny Crush 15 years ago (which was followed by the brilliant Whisper Me Wishes in 2007). After a hiatus of 3 years since his last release Kettel is releasing his new album on Clone Records. The talented musician has been busy with producing music for computer games and commercials, but is now offering a fine selection of pieces he has made in the last couple years with this full length in mind. The result is a playful, inspiring, eclectic, delicate, melodic, well-balanced and brilliantly produced album fuzzing elements of electronica, classical music, jazz and techno stirred into flawless, memorable compositions. As a 90's kid Kettel has always been inspired by the early electronica pioneers (whose names don't even need to be mentioned... everyone knows who we're talking about right?), and on this album too you can hear some of the aesthetics of those late 90's productions, but adopted into Kettel's unique world of confident rhythms and melodies filled with expression. The music on this record has a lyrical quality to it and is so expertly written that it does not strictly depend on it's electronical environment: these compositions would still stand firm performed on whatever combination of instruments. Another lovely and magical release by Kettel thats spreading good vibes from the first to the last second!
