My Home

This piece is composed by one of my high school girl and I. She sets the background melody for the mood, and I added the piano tracks. We call it "The Memory". Now it is indeed a piece of memory for the time when I was teaching at Cambridge. 

I like the entire mood for reflection and the flow. But I'm not quite satisfied with the sound of piano. The piano sound from the software sounds a little too hard and punchy to me. I may want to modify it later.

Anyway, I'm glad this piece is used as background music for another girl's poem in memory of her mother who is apart from her for a long time. 

The Memory

This sample was composed when I was teaching high school students in Cambridge Media Arts Center. I originally wanted to compose a classical piano piece. But in order to attract my high school students, I tried to switch the instrument, and add some percussion sound. The result is pleasantly unexpected. I may want to expand this piece into longer piece of music.

Travel on the Sea

This is also a piece that I composed with one of my high school boy Gerry. Gerry likes to make beats most of time. And most of the time, he just repeats the same beat over and over again, and still thinks he is doing something new. 

Besides that, he is a "problem kid". He always likes to distract other students, show off himself or make fun of whatever you are talking about.

One day, I asked him if he can connect percussion sound, sound effects and different sound of instruments with different moods. We talked about what is a happy sound and what is a sad sound would be like? Then he was confused. 

So I asked him to think about anything that makes him happy or sad in life. Then he told me he was sad that he had never received any gifts in Christmas when other kids have all kinds of gifts. So I asked him to imagine and recall what it was like in Christmas time, when there was beautiful snow, and everything is beautifully decorated, when all other kids were having fun with their new gifts, but he was feeling alone and helpless. 

Then he was quiet, and pull the percussion sounds, and sound effects that he thinks is sad and cold. After that, I added the piano tracks and other tracks I think may match what he chose. 

I'm really glad I made this boy sit down and think for a moment. From the story he told, I could see the weakness, sadness and helpless deep in his heart, that he tries to cover by  disturbing others, making fun of others and showing off himself. 

I don't know how Gerry is doing now. But I hope he will become stronger and more mature. 

Christmas Snow

A piece that I composed two years ago. Never touch it since I finished it.
I may want to trim it a little bit.
