I just really love old '90s R&B, and I wanted to make an R&B song. I wrote and recorded this late one night after receiving a little midi keyboard I ordered on eBay. It was the first beat I ever made on my own, just tapping my desk, and I loved the way it came together.

I wrote this because I felt and FEEL so happy to live this life. I wanted to write a genuine happy love song. I initially recorded it to a very techno-style beat that I made on a GarageBand, but when I went into a proper studio I decided to take the beat out to give it a more organic sound. This was the first time I played banjo and mandolin on a song, and it was a joyous experience. Such happy instruments!

In the beginning of COVID lockdown, I read a story about a husband and wife who were in separate rooms of a hospital and died hours apart. Alone with no family. It affected me severely, and the only way I could justify the sadness and the unfortunate situation was to think that maybe they would see one another on the other side. On a beach somewhere beautiful. Death is a very uncomfortable topic for me, as it is for most people. I like imagining that when we fade from this earthly life, we go somewhere amazing. Like a house party. Or a beach in this case :)
