For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead (and beyond!) and we look forward to continuing together on this ride wherever it takes us.

Throughout his critically acclaimed fifteen-year career, London-based producer Ryan Lee West has reinvented himself with each lauded release. His work is bound, however, by his increasing drive to humanize sound. His music has evolved from his challenging early electronic output to more conceptual and metamorphic sonic theses, such as 2020’s ‘Articulation’ and last year’s ‘Overflow’- an emotional exploration of technological advance’s consequences to human nature. 2022 saw his much-awaited return with his eighth release via Erased Tapes, titled ‘Now Is’.

"This mix reflects back on the past year of personal releases, including tracks from the ‘Beneath the Surface Remixed’ EPs and my entry for the Monkeytown 10 Year Anniversary Compilation. In keeping with the Mesh theme, a collaboration between myself and Max Cooper (that could be seen as the start of my journey to this label) sits alongside music that’s inspired me throughout the lockdown period. From abstract and ambient to driving, epic techno, I had these tunes turned up loud in the studio and imagined what it would feel like to play this set in a club.
