Ys II (Ancient Ys Vanished) - Stay with me forever(unfinished) ( イースII )

Remake of the intro demo of T&E Soft's Undeadline. In this case it's the longer MSX version.
Used synths are a Roland Fantom XR and a Roland JV-1080 expanded with a sr-jv80-13 vocal board.
Tracked using Moonblaster 1.4 and grabbed the MIDI data using WORP3's MIDI-PAC.

Moonsound (OPL4) Wave cover of the 10th track of the Great Strategy 2 OST.
All tracks of this game have had this OPL4 treatment and will soon be released as a music collection to be played on your MSX.

Great Strategy II - Track 10 ( キャンペーン版大戦略II )

First time using a real bass guitar \o/
Together with some of my trusty Roland friends.
The track loops a few times and new parts get added after each loop, so it won't stay as empty as it starts.

Undeadline - Forest ( アンデッドライン )

The complete intro sequence of the legendary Microcabin game Xak 2. This beast of a remake is the one that took the most time to make. I did use all my synthesizers, even the Korg X5D. On top of that did I pull the square wave instrument from my Philips Music Module cartridge in my MSX.

Great tune from a great game. Done on a Moonsound OPL4 cartridge on my MSX computer. Recorded straight from the 25 year old hardware.

Illusion City - The one who rules the Heaven ( 幻影都市 )

10 years after making all individual recordings I finally refound the WAVs and decided they should be mixed together.
Accidentally I received a distortion pedal for a guitar I do have but can not play. So I played it. Just don't tell anyone I had to study every (two) grips quite hard and record them separately.

Well hey, in 1994 this dude lived in Hillegom. Can't change the title because he couldn't stick there.

The track was originally written in 1994 for MSX-Music and MSX-Audio. Some years ago I revamped it on my synthesizers. As I was far from satisfied with the mix, I redid it.

The "victim" himself gave the mixing a go with my WAV files. A way more fresh and balanced approach than I did. Still tricks, do's and don'ts were picked up for the next project.

In 1994 we released our first music disk for the MSX system. To boost popularity a bit we kindly requested some tracks from the already established group Σmphasys. Their composer/programmer, Master of Audio,  sent us three tracks of which this is one.

In 2004 we celebrated the 10th anniversary of this music disk called Soepfiskje and redid the best tracks for Moonsound supported with some new tracks. Among the redone tracks was Strawberry Spring. Under strict supervision of the original composer I finally came up with this version.

Strawberry Spring (Master of Audio)

Early 2016 this tune won the "Pimp my PSG" challenge at MSX.ORG under the name "Das Piratenboot". It's a remix of several in-game tunes of the funny, yet hard game Higemaru by Capcom.

This is the biggest piece of Frankenstein I ever did and even ever heard of. It's four music chips simultaniously devided in two seperate music files played on three MSX computers in perfect harmony.

Computer 1 plays its part on MSX-Music and MSX-Audio while channel 1 is muted and reserved for Computer 3. It outputs MIDI data through MIDI-PAC
Computer 2 waits for a MIDI signal and starts playing its Moonsound parts as soon as Computer 1 starts playing.
Computer 3 has Synthesix loaded and plays the muted first channel of Computer 1 on an SCC.

This channel contains home maid originals and remixes/covers of Japanese MSX game music. The thumbnail of each track displays the music chip you hear. If you see a rack of synths, at least one of them is used.

Soundcloud. I wonder what their corebusiness is. It can't be sound because the quality is lower than Youtube's. FM tunes aren't affected that hard by quality loss, but the hi end gear seems to have to suffer. Especially hi-hats are broken by compression. If you want to listen to a track withhout this demolition, check if you can download the track. Since I noticed the quality degradation, I started uploading WAV and made them downloadable.
