This is an original song written by Melanie Eccles in collaboration with Tommy Barfoot and Stephen Miziolek.  Vocals by Melanie Eccles, guitar and bass by David O'Hearn and drums by Peter Homsy. Recorded by David O'Hearn at PlayD Studio in Mississauga, Ontario.  The inspiration for the song comes from my love of boots and my country roots as well as the sound of a 12 bar blues progression.  It all came together in about 30 minutes and was an absolute blast to write. Hope you enjoy.

This is a song I wrote about my dear mother.  It's very real to me and sometimes when I just sit and listen to it, it can bring me to tears.  Although my mom is no longer with us I credit her for the strength I have to keep keepin' on.  Mom, this one is for you. XO

Mama Strong

The inspiration for this song came from the picture on the front of a C.D.  I did not know the artist but the street scape fascinated me. It was a man sitting in the middle of the tree-lined street bordered by a black wrought iron fence; it was misty and foggy and he was dressed in a black tuxedo and playing a black, miniature baby grand piano. There was no colour at all in the picture. It had such a vintage feel. It turns out that the artist is Hugh Laurie who I later discovered was "House". I listened to the C.D. and one of the tracks impressed on me so much a feeling of Vaudeville which then inspired me to write "Slice of Life"

This is a song about "that guy" who literally floors you, brings you to your knees.  The kind of pain you experience "hurts so good".  I picture him as a combination of the classic John Wayne, Antonio Banderas (as Zorro)and Javier Bardem. His intent is not to hurt you nor is it to stay.  You invite knowingly, in spite of the helplessness you will feel.  You are smitten!

Afflicted

This is a song about "Big Pharma" and the "pill they would have us swallow". My belief is that there are natural alternatives to poisonous drugs and that we don't have to be guinea pigs; the choice is ours.

Pharmageddon

Singer / song writer / late bloomer.  I didn't really start singing until I was almost 49.  It was something I desperately wanted to do but I had no experience and so I got the courage to go to a jam night and sing with a live band.  That was it! I was hooked and now I can't get enough.  I started writing about three years ago and I love the whole creative process. I am very much a part of the choices being made at the production stage. It's a whole new world for me and I'm lovin' it.  I get to write and sing about things that mean something to me.  It's such a great feeling to see an original song come to fruition live on stage and have an audience that can appreciate and like what you've done. I know very well the saying, "without an audience, there is no show".  Thanks to all who take the time to listen.  Cheers
