Eric Copeland is an American born experimental musician and a member of the band Black Dice since their inception in 1998. 

As a solo artist he has written and produced six albums as well as countless singles through as many years, and has forged his own path creating an intimate and deranged space which his music exists in.
Logo My Ego is his debut record for the L.I.E.S. record label out of Brooklyn, New York.

When listening to this record, some may say it sounds like, "a bunch of crying disco loops melting under the sun"

Others could call this "some form of ultra demented pop music created to destroy pop music whilst trying to co-exist in a paralell dimension simultanously getting caught in some sort of purgatory to suffer together infinitely.

Another rather accurate description could be that the record is akin to "eating an ice cream cone off city blacktop in August"

At points some of the tracks are driven by a  possessed rhythm box going in and out of sync as a tape player with broken pitch chews and warbles eveything in its path.

Other times the music is like a slow dry mouthed mule caravan trudging through the desert looking for a oasis while hallucintating on dmt.

And some may even be turned on when things take an unexpected turn for the worse as out of tune melodies, and skewed abrupt breaks in the music grind and scratch the listeners face with its jagged nails.

To say this isn't a masterpiece would be a gross understatement.

They kind of feel like scribbles or doodles and for some reason or another I couldn't find my way of singing with them. Some of them just stuck out like sore thumbs. West Coast jazz mavericks, The Pyramids, led by their inspirational bandleader, Idris Ackamoor, return with a new album on Strut. The band met while in school in Ohio in the 1970s, where one of their teachers was renowned pianist, Cecil Taylor. Having disbanded in 1977, the group re-united in the 2010s following acclaim for their three independently released 1970s LPs from jazz aficionados and record collectors. 

Recorded in Max Weissenfeldt’s analogue Philophon studio in Berlin, 'We Be All Africans' is a sparkling set of Afro- jazz-funk fusions, from the infectious chants of the title track to the reflective “Epiphany” and the yearning, mournful future single, “Silent Days” featuring the brilliant vocals of Bajka. The album is released 27th May 2016 on Strut Records.

The Pyramids have been hand-picked by Floating Points to open the West Coast leg of their live tour. Dates below:

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids - "We Be All Africans"

Phuong-Dan is closely linked with the much loved Golden Pudel in Hamburg. As one of the club's longest serving selectors, he has made it his playground and has built up a loyal following both locally and internationally. His sounds are freaky and unusual, to say the least, and as such he and his night Gatto Musculoso are celebrated for being risky and experimental. He hasn’t made a record yet, but is a multidisciplinary artist who has made a documentary film and has written two books, one of which is about migration. 

Phuong-Dan also works as programmer and curator in the local project Music From High Wires, and has a real sense of style and noir aesthetic that easily marks him out in his own little world. This mix proves that across the course of one hour of hellish electronics, foreboding and sludgy techno, dark dub and mechanical malfunctions. Maybe try listening to it on headphones, in the dead of night, but only if you dare…
