Depeche Mode - Dream On (Made In TLV Remix)

Sixth Avenue Express have been gathering a lot of momentum recently with their mid tempo, emotionally charged productions striking a note with a larger and larger audience. While they have put out releases across a plethora of labels their home has always been at House of Disco Records and thats where SAE is now releasing their next solo EP titled 'I See'. Full of the clever touches and the warmth you've come to expect from them this EP delivers on every front.

The first, and title, track 'I See' sets the perfect tone, a breezy warm track to seduce to. With a haunting vocal and soft strings coupled with woozy base line its the driving keys that turn this track from a lullaby to confidently invigorating and fresh experience.

Second on the release and most dance floor friendly is 'Clandestine' and like the name suggests is best listened in a secretive and illicit location, like a sweaty basement party. This track is laden with the trademark chords that pepper a lot of Sixth Avenue Express productions but its strength lies in its amazing vocal treatments, which shift and grow to an epic level.

'There's No Time' acts a a decompression chamber after a night out, the perfect after party choice. With enough melody to remain positive but a hint of a dark soul 'There's no time' is as alluring as it is fun.

Finally there's 'My Love is Alive' which is the most joyous and optimistic track to see out the release. It brims with full keys, sustained strings and strong vocals. Ending on a high this tracks message is affirming on two fronts, and affirmation of love and an affirmation of the timeless nature of this release.

For the 23rd EP on Heimlich Musik, Franz Matthews collaborates with label veteran Johannes Klingebiel and Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist Semodi, delivering two original mixes accompanied with remixes by Random Atlas and Balam.

„Signs“ is the result of a spontaneous collaboration between Franz Matthews and Johannes Klingebiel which started after a few drinks and builds on instrumental recordings. A powerful bassline and melancholic pads are used to reflect the message of the vocals to welcome the unexpected signs of life in a positive way.

Evolving from a long-lasting friendship with Semodi, „Law of Attraction“ is an enchanting arrangement carried by a subtle guitar and vocals about rewiring your own behavioral patterns for a more fulfilling existence.

Chilean duo Random Atlas pick up the bassline and main theme of „Signs“ in their remix while their powerful signature disco sound is magnified by the use of additional drum elements, analog synth lines, and electric guitars.

Balam recreates „Law of Attraction“ as an ecstatic club track based on hypnotic drums while keeping the spirit of the original, rounding up the EP as a whole.

From warming drum machines that dish out the metric groove to the layers of original guitars and vocal that Franz has paired with immaculate synths and creative sound design. A beautiful dancefloor moment in the making that will find home in clubs and festivals alike.

British electronica duo Left of Manila, Ed Bentley and Mish Pharaon, craft an idiosyncratic world mixing hypnotic rhythms with lush, synthesized landscapes and mantric vocals that combine for a left-of-centre sonic that borders the dance and listening spectrums with ease.

The pair have been releasing their infectious, often experimental sonics since 2011, and now ready up the release of their debut album ‘Seven Sisters’. Kicking things off with the lead single ‘Africa On My Mind’, featuring upcoming Ghanaian Londoner Jeff Darko on lead vocals. Bringing an immersive, hypnotic dose of indie-rock meets Afro-house that traverses between the acoustic and electronic with an infectious hook and intricate instrumental performances.

Athlete Whippets productions are simply encapsulating and their first outing on House of Disco is something a little different for the label. From the first track ‘Talk About This Love’ the London/Berlin duo draw you in with dreamy pads and submerged vocals and there’s this wonderful quiet energy that holds you and you don’t want to let go.

Their second original ‘Dreams Of Being Alone’ channels that same moreish energy but with a little more enthusiasm and joy. Skittering and splashy drum programming is offset by the wonderful playfulness of that marimba-esque synth which plants your feet firmly in the sand of some lonely beach. 

Shall we talk about the remixes? First up Demuja takes ‘Dreams Of Being Alone’ and whips you off the beach and onto the dance-floor adding a tougher 4/4 approach with some punchy strings to get you swinging while keeping that marimba front and centre. 

For the second remix we have Aroop Roy tackling ‘Talk About This Love’ and as expected this versatile producer has gone his own way adding keys, baselines and just generally doing something totally new and interesting.

'Belgian disco savants Rheinzand return with the second in a triptych of remix EPs. This one follows Obey Remixes, which came out Nov 6. 

Kills & Kisses, the original track, comes off Rheinzand’s 2019 self-titled album and has been out as a single as well. The track was one of the more propulsive on the album with an almost micro-house sounding groove, driving down low, blossoming up top. 

This bundle of remixes flow from that vein, expanding on the house angle of Rheinzand’s sound through the work of three fantastic artists.'
