Rising star Aperio, is a Liquid Drum & Bass producer from York, UK. With his dreamy sound design and crystal clear production, he is definitely one to keep an eye on in 2023. Boasting releases on labels like Liquicity, Ram, Shogun and High Tea Music, the 26 year old is sitting on a strong back catalog which has been supported by the likes of Etherwood, Sub Focus, Rene Lavice and High contrast over the years. With brand new music in the works for 2023, we only see Aperio going from strength to strength in the near future.

The name @syrandnb came after the Ransome brothers (Josh and James) toyed with the idea of forming a drum & bass project, having spent years consuming a diet of Andy C and Calibre After modestly working under individual pseudonyms, a chance meeting with Ray Keith at Clashmouth’s vinyl market meant that the name ‘SyRan’ finally stuck, solidifying their commitment to melding their two considerable talents. 

Following this encounter, alongside several releases under their belt, they found a home within the roster of @RAMRecords, and with the label’s guidance the brothers have come from their modest foundations and have grown to be part of the imprint’s new generation. This is a feat which not many newcomer producers have been able to accomplish.

Her latest release After All with Gid Sedgwick, her first ever vocal collaboration dropped earlier this month on UKF and gives off real melodic, heavy dancefloor vibes; a fusion that’s become a dominant characteristic in MEL’s signature.

In our exclusive interview we get a taster of how MEL progressively got into D&B through her love of other artists, we talk about the importance of track knowledge as a DJ, her take on the drum & bass sound at the moment and the difference between a radio set and a club or festival mix, just like this mix right here!

MEL is renowned for her high energy mixing and impressive range of track selection. Whether she’s drawing Dancefloor anthems on KISS FM or delivering a face melting set of Neurofunk for Virus Recordings, MEL knows how to deliver an incredible show, catching the attention of heavy weight brands such as Rampage, Fabric and Boomtown along the way.

Firmly establishing herself as a DJ over the past decade, it was only a matter of time she would cut into the scene as a producer. MEL’s debut track ‘Protagonist’ propelled on to UKF in 2021, which not only received backing from the likes of Andy C, A.M.C and Koven to name a few but also landed her three Drum & Bass Arena award nominations and made history, being the first ever female to break into the best track category.

Setting the bar high, she smashed into 2022 with her release 'Live Wire' on Viper and made her return to UKF with her hard hitting Neurofunk number 'Telekinesis’, racking up 60k Spotify streams in a month of being released.

Transmitting her passion and knowledge to the airwaves, MEL is one of the longest standing resident DJ's and hosts on Data Transmission which attracted a prime time slot on the mighty return of Kool FM.

MEL represented RAM on BBC Radio 1 for their 30 year celebrations, with a high energy mix consisting of 100% RAM records releases, as well as DJing their nights at Printworks and XOYO, it only makes sense her latest release ‘Exonerate’ to be signed by them.
