PREMIERE: Solarythm - Orée [murmurs]

The seventeenth. An entry from Out Of Focus co-curator @picnic-it.

A mix both diverse and wandering, we depart with bouncy, organic infused electronica, lighter textures slowly intensifying as the palette develops. The middle of mix finds its stride in some deeper, darker, resonant tracks. Rolling and revolving, the senses blur as the cycle grips our auditory senses. Finally, the listener is pulled back out of the hypnotic haze, stronger sounds of storytelling return to the forefront to reassert the groove, with haunting vocals and strings bidding the listener a final farewell.

With Temperament, CTAFAD explores a techno palette rich in vibrant colors, sometimes tinged with darker shades and dub textures. The melodies unfold with finesse, balanced by more intense rhythms, giving the tracks a raw energy imbued with sensitivity.
One can feel the pursuit of balance between spontaneity and structure, musical maturity in constant motion.
Solarythm’s remix adds an airy trance touch, further expanding the EP’s trajectory.
An artistically warm transition, perfect for accompanying the shift from summer to autumn.

Ørphisrā | ØSC

We welcome Italian born artist ‘ØSC’ as our next guest in the series. Immersed in the Sicilian landscapes growing up, Riccardo’s inspiration stems from the deep sea, Apennine mountains and the vast history of Italy’s coast.

With releases on labels such as ‘Khoros’, ‘Dosis’ and ‘Orbitando’, ØSC has become well respected in the current electronic music scene. He believes his ‘Quetzal’ EP, released on ‘Lotus Parable’, is most representative of his introspective journey so far.

Enthralled by the elements, soft sighing winds and the idyllic embrace of the deep serene; Riccardo aims to bridge the pulsating rhythm of music, with the perpetual rhythm of nature that we live and breathe.

As the framework for this mix, @onohnooo imagined his dream line-up and decided to include at least two tracks from each artist,  something he doesn’t usually do, but found really interesting, especially when forcing himself not to play tracks from the same producer back-to-back. The result is a spontaneous and fresh approach to building a set.

Onohno has a beautiful way to describe the journey you are about to hear. “I imagine it each time as a moment of introspection in a fictional world where we travel from biome to biome, sometimes through very natural and primitive places, and other times through more abstract spaces shaped by new technologies.”  The atmosphere he wants to leave behind isn’t clarity, but something more elusive. Quiet disorientation, the good kind, where you don’t quite know where you are but you’re glad to be there. Towards the end several genres intertwine, with erratic rhythms blending into slower ones, sounds that feel both distinctly electronic and deeply organic at the same time. 

His sound is mostly inspired by those nights where he found himself fully immersed in the music ”.. and you could sense the whole crowd was too, as if everyone was breathing to the same rhythm. That feeling of collective energy, of being carried somewhere together, has really shaped the way I approach sound. Also, over the last four years, I’ve been diving into experimental music, both acoustic and electronic, and that completely changed the way I see music as a whole”.

If you want to hear more, explore Onohno’s mix series Akalara, an ongoing project he’s eager to keep developing further. Also worth experiencing is his A/V live show with OTON, “it’s a way for me to share how I visualize music and to give the audience an experience that’s as immersive as possible”, Onohno says.

The nineteenth. This entry see's us welcome Adelia to the series, presenting a carefully selected, showcase of some gems from her vast collection. 

The mix starts with a ceremonious air, as if something were being summoned from the deep. The tracks rear their heads, revealing an ethereal air with a smooth, sophisticated underbelly.

The trademark use of atmospheric tracks brings the listener to a place of warmth and serenity. Seamless blends between rhythms offer a beautiful journey, culminating in a track that gently sets us down, craving more from this classy operator.
