Here is the first single and opening track off the forthcoming LP "Return to the Golden Era" by Awon & Phoniks entitled "Midas Touch" . "Return to the Golden Era" will be available on iTunes and at http://www.awonandphoniks.com this coming Tuesday, 7/30/2013.

The album attempts to bring back the golden era boombap sound of New York hip hop in the 90's, with sharp, clever emceeing by Newport News' Awon and smooth, jazzy production by Portland producer Phoniks.

Awon is an American underground hip hop artist who is currently making a name for himself amongst the international hip hop community. Most known for his Goon Trax debut, Beautiful Loser, Awon is also part of the group Awon & Kameleon Beats and a member of the hip hop collective, The Soul Students. Awon has worked on various works with Thomas Prime on Waiting for Tomorrow, and Love Supersedes II.

Phoniks is a 22 year old up and coming producer from Portland who has built a reputation online for his series of hip hop remix albums with classic/old school flare, 2011's "The Tape" and 2013's "Basement Vibes" and "Make Beats, Don't Sleep" have achieved success both domestically and internationally through his Bandcamp website. He has been featured on a number of hip hop blogs and magazines including Respect Mag, gripsquad.com,ughh.com, and whudat.de.

NEW RELEASE! This joint comes 4 day's before the re-release of Tiff's album "Better to Give" coming this FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14th. The album will feature several never-before-heard Phoniks remixes as well as some fresh new artwork. This collab came about when I read one of @tiff-the-gift 's tweets where she was frustrated about men who say they don't listen to female hip-hop artists. I wanted to capture her raw emotion at the time on record so I tweeted back that I had a beat for her to vent over and the rest is history. Tiff spits venom on this track!

After Ugly Heroes' 2013 classic self titled LP, Apollo Brown, Verbal Kent and Red Pill are back again with a new EP coming out August 19th.  The new EP features five new songs (including a Murs feature) and 4 bonus track b-sides.  Ugly Heroes will also being touring Europe for a few weeks this August, starting with the legendary Hip-Hop Kemp Festival before hitting London and a number of other spots (all the dates will soon be up on the MMG Event Calendar). Longtime observer and emcee of the culture Truth is set to release his debut album "From Ashes To Kingdome Come" on Ill Adrenaline Records. A few years back Truth formed an alliance with PF Cuttin (of Blahzay Blahzay) and together the Queens emcee and the Brooklyn producer/DJ/engineer are ready to release a typical 90's throwback sounding full-length that carries PF's thumbprint throughout. On the 18-track strong heater Truth picks up various topics, ranging from life experiences to repping hip-hop culture - always showcasing his passionate and sharp lyrical rhyme skills. Entirely recorded and mixed by PF Cuttin, the album's raw and dusty sound stays true to the streets, including features from heavyweights such as the late Sean Price, O.C., and AG (of D.I.T.C.). Newcomer JK1 The Supernova handles the majority of production along with veteran producers PF Cuttin, Psycho Les (of The Beatnuts), Da Beatminerz, and DJ Doom.
