Schubert's immortal "Serenade" was written in 1826.  The following is the story behind this lovely song.   I always appreciate you listening and hope you like it :-)

"One Sunday, during the summer of 1826, Schubert with several friends was returning from Potzleinsdorf to the city, and on strolling along through Wahring, he saw his friend Tieze sitting at a table in the garden of the 'Zum Biersack.' The whole party determined on a halt in their journey. Tieze had a book lying open before him, and Schubert soon began to turn over the leaves. Suddenly he stopped, and pointing to a poem, exclaimed, 'such a delicious melody has just come into my head, if I but had a sheet of music paper with me.' Herr Doppler drew a few music lines on the back of a bill of fare, and in the midst of a genuine Sunday hubbub, with fiddlers, skittle players, and waiters running about in different directions with orders, Schubert wrote that lovely song."

SERENADE (SCHUBERT)

This Sarabande is from Bach's Third Suite for Solo Cello....I especially love the Sarabande's with all their complex chords and sounds.   Each cellist plays the pieces with a different style...my style is patterned after Maisky  who is one of my cello role models....I hope you like it :-)

SARABANDE 3 - BACH

This  composition is the second in the series of Feelings put to music.....I recently introduced a musing on my website called...Promise...a Beautiful Feeling.  I am finding that I really like creating music that, to me, depicts  special feelings.   I hope when you listen you ,also, will hear the reassuring   feeling of promise in this music :-)  

This is an original composition and is played by virtual (software) cellos....at a later date, both parts will be played with my cello.....

A FEELING OF PROMISE  OPUS 3  (Cello Duet)   Original

This Frost poem has been an important and favorite one thru out my life.  I talk about in my recent musing...THE  ROAD LESS TRAVELED....I have heard poems read to music before and thought, how fitting it would be if I could do that with this poem and my own music.  This music  that you hear is my newest composition....A CELLO SOLILOQUY - OPUS 5.   You can find it on my musical musings section of my  website.   This music is played by Finale cello.  I will redo this, in the future,  when played my mine.  I hope you like my newest undertaking ....i sure learned a lot doing it :-)

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN by Robert Frost  ...read to my original music

This is my most favorite hymn....i have my  own personal idea as to its meaning....I wanted to be able to  add a second cello harmony sound to country hymns so I could be Country Cello again this summer :-) ...but, with my own arrangements for 2 cellos...played by  my cello(not Finale cello).....I hope you like the sounds :-)

This is the first of my originals (although only the duet part)played with my cello  and more will  coming in the near future.  I don't know how this one slipped ahead of my Zadlo's Song which I am currently working on...but, it did :-)  I personally feel strongly, that, my original compositions are not finished until played and published with my cello.

IN THE SWEET BY AND BY -  CELLO DUET   ( my cello) (my arrangement)

This is the first piece in a special  Solo Cello Suite that I am doing in honor of the lovable and wonderful Aussie Wombat.....Yes...it is very very odd....this is a first, for sure....to have a Blues piece in a solo cello suite :-) :-)   There will be two more pieces....THE WISTFUL WOMBAT No. 2...and ....THE WALTZING WOMBAT No.3.    I have lost my heart to this lovable creature and since I can't  adopt one....this is my way of experiencing one :-)  So, although this Suite is a cello chuckle....the intent of it is from  my heart......

THE WOMBAT BLUES NO. 1......Original (my cello)

I  played this Tango over a year ago...it was on my tracks....but,  I was never happy with the edition  that I was using and it was the only one  available for cello.....so , after listening to guitars playing this in a range that was more palatable to my ears.....I wrote my own arrangement of this lovely  Albeniz work  in what I call the "perfect range" of the cello.....as I thought about it recently...this was my first ever attempt at actually writing something :-)   I hope your ears like this smooth flowing Classical Tango.....

TANGO    -   ISAAC ALBENIZ (my arrangement)

This is dedicated to Carole....my cello teacher of 7 years in a few weeks.....she has been dedicated to helping me reach my goals with the cello since my restart....a story that shows her commitment to my cello efforts (no matter what they are).....every year on our anniversary....May 2...i give her a cd with the pieces I have played/learned thruout the year.....she will now have 7 CD's....she tells me this all the time....when she gets home  after receiving it...she pulls all the others out and listens to them all...now, that would be the last thing I would want to do (and I don't) :-).....Carole, to me, defines the word teacher and I am a lucky cello to have her on my side ......

This is my favorite country hymn and there is a solo rendition also on my tracks...but, I wanted to do a cello duet  to add harmony.....I hope you like it :-)   I plan on doing more of this type of arranging (not all hymns) ....

PRECIOUS MEMORIES -CELLO DUET...(My arrangement)..(My Cello)

Zadlo's Song (Cello Duet) was my very first composition :-)..It is on my tracks but, played with Finale Software Cello.  It has been done with my cello, on my site, for quite awhile now and is real music now :-)...one day, as I was listening to it, I wanted to play a Solo version so that I would have the freedom to let Zadlo sing out his sounds without the constraints that the duet had ..So, I  made this Solo version...and this is how I feel about my Zadlo and all the resonant sounds he makes.....

This is the saddest music I have written...it is part of a Solo Cello Suite that I recently completed....it's intent is to portray wistfulness, hopelessness, worry, and heart break....I hope you can hear the overall sadness in this music....

WISTFUL......ORIGINAL...(my cello)

I am so honored that Alexander asked for this music a few weeks ago.  He had heard it on my site. I thought he was just being kind and then a few days  ago, I get this wonderful recording and interpretation by  Alexander.  I was so surprised and honored that , as busy as he is, he took time to do this.....Thank you , Alexander....your interpretation is exactly as I had in my heart and mind....those times when one dreams of the .....impossible.....and what you did with the last chord and the low note is beyond words...I will treasure this...

The Story(there always is one with me :-) )...This started out as a cello piece in Bb Major...after all my work...I like Bb Major in piano sounds, not cello sounds..I was emailing a cello friend with the music and as i was writing i thought...well, why not create a piano piece...I had the parts...so I did....and put it on my site's piano page along with all my other ...sigh...piano playing attempts...and then.. Alexander heard it :-)....

This lively little Gigue is my favorite of all the Gigues in the Bach Solo Cello Suites...this one is from the 1st Suite...it is both fun and challenging to play  :-)

GIGUE 1 by Bach

"On Wings of Song" (German: "Auf Flügeln des Gesanges") is a poem by the German Romantic poet Heinrich Heine. It was published in Buch der Lieder in 1827. Felix Mendelssohn set it to music as the second of his "six songs for voice and piano" (Opus 34-2, 1834)
