Man nehme eine breite Auswahl feinster sphärischer Lieder, dazu eine ordentliche Portion Synthies und Leidenschaft....was kommt dann herraus? Genau, mein neuster Cast für die Technogeschwister von <a href="https://www.klangextase.de"> Klangextase</a>.

Getreu dem Motto, iss so lange es noch warm ist (und hier ist es immer warm), habe ich für euch ein durch und durch hypnothisches, synthilastiges und sehr sphärisches Mixtape aufgenommen, das dem ein oder anderen mit Sicherheit neue Facetten elektronischer Musik eröffnen wird. Mir persönlich hat die Aufnahme sehr viel Spaß gemacht, da ich nun endlich viele meiner persönlichen Highlights auspacken konnte, die es sonst nie in die anderen Mixtapes geschafft haben. 
Daher freue ich mich umso mehr, diese euch nun endlich präsentieren zu dürfen.

Our favorite hamburger, who has been dedicated to house music for some time now, will provide you with the right music. He already proved to us at one of last year's showcases that music can also be great without a creaky boom. Quasi House To The Floor. Classic without the frills. But light as a feather, atmospheric and really danceable.

It has been a crazy inspiring year and I was lucky to get the opportunity to express that in such a beautiful way. 

Here is a selection of pivotal ambient tracks, a glimpse into French impressionism and synesthesia, contemporary classical, film scores and sound collages from some of my adventures around the world chasing this music dream. 

This was a completely new experience for me, I've never played an ambient set before and never attempted to record music in a Gothic cathedral before. What you're hearing is a mix of line-out and microphone recordings from around the pulpit. 

Of course, with any experiment, the first time is a steep learning curve. Luckily I was invited back to this magnificent place in March 2015 and can't wait to go deeper into this process.

Last month I was in Copenhagen playing at Strom Festival & caught Surgeon playing a live modular set at God Goes Deep. He totally hypnotised the church with these droney, minimal, ice-cold tones, I fell asleep leaning against the wall and was roused by spooky dialogue some time later. The sense of space and timing was really powerful and i had that in mind when choosing music for this set.

Again, this is a mix of line out and microphone recordings, so you can get a feel for this amazing space.

The next preview of my new album is out today. It is repetition, that seemingly boring thing which gives us all the magic of music, with its repeats inside repeats.

The track was written for a video chapter of the new AV show story "Yearning for the Infinite". The visualisation shows our cities as duplicated animated structures stretching off into the infinite distance (which I'll post very soon), and tells the story of our endless societal growth, with the music telling the same story by what means it can. Perhaps you'll find it a maddening listen, I hope not. For me there's always been something special about musical simplicity, like there's nowhere to hide, and if there's only two chords, they better be good ones. Also the track is for escaping the 5 second socials attention span thing, it needs a few minutes to work, ideally eyes closed headphones on, if you can spare me the time I promise it will be worth it!

🗯🗯 Wie hat Corona dein Künstlerleben verändert? 🗯🗯

Die Veränderungen haben bei mir ziemlich schlagartig und sogar während des Auflegens eingesetzt. Eine halbe Stunde nachdem ich meinen Gig auf dem Tribal Gathering Festival in Panama angefangen hatte, kam jemand zu mir auf die Bühne und bat mich aufzuhören, da plötzlich das Militär vor den Toren stand und mit einem Lockdown drohte. Das Festival durfte zwar später weiterlaufen, aber für mich war dies der Moment, in dem sich alles geändert hat.

Wieder zu Hause habe ich dann aus dem Bedürfnis heraus, irgendwas zu tun, bei zwei Videostreams gespielt, allerdings hat mich dieses Format nicht wirklich überzeugt. Ich finde das einen traurigen Versuch, etwas zu ersetzen, das ohne persönliche Nähe nicht ersetzbar ist, deswegen habe ich es dann gelassen. Danach habe ich noch zwei Podcasts gemacht, einen für Tal der Verwirrung und nun diesen hier, für United We Rise 🙂 

Bei meinem ersten Gig seit dem Beginn der Pandemie (auf dem Wumms Festival, der ersten Ausgabe der Festival-Reihe auf dem Wilde Möhre Gelände) durfte ich dann das Festival eröffnen. Als da die ersten Bässe aus der Anlage kamen, war ich ziemlich überwältigt und glücklich.

Ich vermisse die Festivals und das gemeinsame Tanzen sehr, aber wenn ich ehrlich bin, kann ich diese unfreiwillig auferlegte Auszeit auch genießen. Ich hatte diesen Sommer viel Zeit für Quality time mit Freund:innen und Familie, die hatte ich die letzten Jahre kaum.

🗯🗯 Wo hast du diesen Mix aufgenommen? Wie ging es dir dabei? 🗯🗯

Diesen Mix habe ich in unserem Massageraum aufgenommen, Corona bedingt musste unser „Spielzimmer“ dahin umziehen. Das hat mir ein bisschen ein Gefühl von Wellness gegeben, weil es so gut nach Massageöl riecht. Davon abgesehen vermittelt der Podcast denke ich ganz gut meine momentane Stimmung.

🗯🗯 Was wünscht du dir für die Zeit nach oder mit Corona? 🗯🗯

Ich wünsche mir einen verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit der Pandemie, in der Hoffnung einen Weg zu finden, uns unsere Feierkultur Stück für Stück zurück zu erobern, ohne uns und andere Menschen zu gefährden. Ich betrachte diesen Zustand nach wie vor als eine Phase, die hoffentlich irgendwann vorbei sein wird. Und ich hoffe inständig, dass all die kleinen und größeren alternativen Kultur- und Freiräume und ihre Künstler:innen und Kollektive diese Phase überstehen.
