Beauty Is Pain is wrapped around the idea that beauty comes from painful experiences, that there is a process of hardship necessary to undergo before reaching a point of joy or reward if it is to be long lasting or eternal. It is to serve as a roadmap or beacon for the person who is lost or stuck in emotional despair or darkness due to traumatic or extremely disappointing experiences with being intimate with another person that they are/were physically/emotionally attracted to. Each of the 16 songs represents a phase or chapter of emotion or a situation that many experience. The project is a cycle, and each song is placed in the order by which a human typically goes through that cycle starting from attraction, to love, to heartache, to healing, and finally to inner strength and understanding. By the end I am hoping the listener takes away that these experiences build us into stronger and wiser people. The process can be gruesome/cringe-worthy but when/if finished, it is beautiful and it becomes our story forever.
