DJ Melo-D was invited down to Pirate Studios by rising star Nique J for her mid week IG Session. This back to back set was assisted by UK Funky Host and MC Riskgo. This set was a free for all as both DJ's gave the watchers a moment to remember with a hint of live drumming and shaker instrument accompanied the music.

Soul Session is a Soulful & Afro House brand for the more seasoned party goer. Launching in 2011, the brand has gone from strength to strength. Best known for its electric atmosphere & top line up’s featuring London’s finest DJ’s and artists. Soul Session events bring like-minded individuals together who share a love for house music and know how to party.

Melo-D has featured at on their events since 2014 and has since provided some of his most memorable sets at their iconic parties over the years. Kicking off Soul Session's first party of the year, for the Easter special, Melo-D was invited to join a legendary underground house line up of DJ's. This DJ set was graced with a Live PA from the incredible Singer, Songwriter and Visual Artist, MissFly performing an exclusive rendition of Angie Stone's "Wish I Didn't Miss You" over an infamous Amapiano track.

House Key's Volume 8

DJ Melo-D At Fridge Bar - Unheard Recording

The Fridge was a nightclub in the Brixton area of South London, founded by Andrew Czezowski and Susan Carrington, who had run the Roxy during punk music's heyday in 1977. It was originally started in 1981, in a small club at 390 Brixton Lane, and in 1982 above Iceland in Brixton Road with a radical décor that included beat-up ice boxes and artificial dead cats hanging from its ceiling. Early guest DJs included Keith Barker-Main, later a lifestyle journalist and social commentator. It claims to have been the first British club to have such innovations as video screens and a chill out lounge. The Fridge was at the heart of the early 80s New Romantic movement, and booked such acts as Eurythmics and the Pet Shop Boys before they were well known and drew famous faces such as Boy George, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Magenta Devine, as well as Marc Almond and Grace Jones, who also performed there.

In 1985, as a result of increased popularity, the club moved to its final location: a converted 1913 cinema (The Palladium Picture House) on the Town Hall Parade. The Fridge became famous for its Africa Centre nights, playing hip hop and funk hosted by UK group Soul II Soul. Since then it has hosted a variety of club nights most notably Daisy Chain (1987-1990) mostly dance music, trance and more recently mainly hard dance.

The Fridge closed on 17 March 2010 and has no link with Electric Brixton which now occupies the building. Electric Brixton opened in September 2011. Even though The Fridge closed it's doors, it's baby sister Fridge Bar remained open. It was held as an after party spot for goers we attended The Fridge as it was next door. Fridge Bar held it's own solo events from September 1999, and grew popular as the bar was great spot for a late night shake a leg with great commuting links. Over time the bar grew more respect as it never turned it's back on the underground scene and still accommodated DJ's who wanted to get a leg up in the industry. It's safe to say that The Fridge and Fridge Bar birthed a lot of Legends in the DJ world and till this day is known to many as the spiritual home. The fight for survival was never ending as the realm of warehouses, clubs and bar closures up and down London became the new era.

All good things must come to and end and unfortunately, in October 2015 Fridge Bar closed it's doors on the world.

The first Revolution bar opened in Manchester in 1996. 19 years later and Revolution Bars Group plc is now made up of 52 Revolution bars and 5 Revolución de Cubas, all across the UK.

The first Revolution appeared on Oxford Road, Manchester in 1996. Since then a further 62 (at the time of writing!) have opened across the nation. From Aberdeen to Plymouth: Swansea to York; the Revolution logo is now a familiar sign.

Although there is a distinct brand, every bar is uniquely designed to reflect the area in which it is located. So, whilst there is commonality with a distinct vodka theme (the Company owns its own vodka factory producing more than 30 varieties), there are subtle differences to the design of each bar. You will never confuse America Square with the Albert Dock!

Inventive Leisure has ridden the wave of economic success and bucked the effect of recession: continuing to open bars into the second decade of the 21st century (in stark contrast to the much publicised demise of pubs and bars in general).

Each Revolution bar has its own character, individual design and layout, with bar interiors tailored on a site-by-site basis to utilise the space available and best attributes of the premises.

All Revolution bars are located in towns or cities, with none in edge- or out-of-town locations, reflecting the focus on a premium offering to urban consumers.

This is mix is dedicated to the families and souls we have lost due to the systematic racism in this world. Injustice is a grain of salt applied to a wound that is already bleeding out. We as one, we as humans, we as people of the earth have lost the knowledge of the key principles to survival. Love seems to be a thing of the past and hatred has poisoned the air. Whether you are religious or a non-believer, we all die the same.

For the African's in the world, a better time will come when you shall not be afraid of your melanin. nor shall you degrade another African to gain self power. There will be a time when history will be the blood stream that keeps us alive and our ancestors will live in our neurons as pulses to help us fight the oppression. Kings and Queens shall return to their thrones and minister their households in unity.

African instruments have been the chief corner stone in what we call modern instruments and most, if not all genres of music can be traced back to the mother land. Classical sounds can be traced back centuries to Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique. Instruments such as Kibangala, The Kora and Dulcimer are the godfathers of the Jazz Orchestra pieces.

House Key's Volume 13

DJ Melo-D At Plan B - Unheard Recording

The 600 capacity Plan B ran a multifarious music programme that takes in everything from dub, reggae, hip-hop and soul, through to electronic music styles like house, techno, garage and bass music. Once located just north of Brixton tube station in south London, Plan B operated a 24-hour license, with events running throughout the night and beyond. The club was fitted with a Funktion One sound system and maintained a warehouse feel throughout due to its stripped-back decor.

In the past, Plan B has welcomed diverse and luminary guests such as Kerri Chandler, Moodymann, James Blake (debut live show), Jamie Jones, Juan Atkins, Ben UFO, Basement Jaxx, Norman Jay, Scuba, Jesse Rose, Tevo Howard, James Priestley, Fred P, Joy Orbison, Sebo K, Larry Heard, Todd Terje, Floating Points, Greg Wilson, Omar S, Sub-ann, Le Loup and many more.Hip Hop artists like Diamond D, J Rocc, Ali Shaheed Muhammaad, J-Live, Kenny Dope, Just Blaze & The Alchemist, J-Live, Ms Dynamite, Ugly Duckling, Keith Murray, KRS One, Klashnekoff and Lady Sovereign. In 2011, Plan B was listed as the most talked about venues in London' The Guardian Top 10 Music Venues.

The space has been acquired by the owners of XOYO and The Nest and has been rebranded as ‘Phonox’

Welcome to the 4th chapter in the new book of Afro, Jazz, Soulful, House mixes... Muziki translates as “Music” in Swahili. Swahili aka Kiswahili is more common around Central, Southern and South Eastern Africa. The name Swahili is derived from the Arabic word Sawahil سواحل, meaning "coasts." The Swahili speak the Swahili language, which belongs to the Bantu branch of the Niger-Congo family. The music of the soul of the continent stretches from traditional African music to the string-based Taarab to a distinctive Afro House Sound. African instruments have been the chief corner stone in what we call modern instruments and most, if not all genres of music can be traced back to the mother land. Classical sounds can be traced back centuries to Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique. Instruments such as Kibangala, The Kora and Dulcimer are the godfathers of the Jazz Orchestra pieces.


Muziki is an expression of art in sound, driven by the factors that make music what it is... SOUL. This chapter was compiled to create an aura of relaxation and contentment. In this chapter, we appreciate the feminine factor of society and black women empowerment. Our Queen's have faced all of the challenges in Modernity, but still rise in the ashes of state and society. The nurturing blanket, a woman provides during times of comfort, love, resistance and upliftment is rich in all it's glory and sustainability. The muse was created out of the souls of women, therefore as men, we owe a great deal to natures human artwork.

Melo-D made a guest appearance on the internet radio station House 559 Music. The host/DJ Theo Lewis has a bi-weekly show on Monday's on www.house559music.com At 8PM – 10PM GMT. In this show, Melo-D was interviewed on his DJ career, work within local communities and the link between youth aspirations and UK austerity. The interview was wrapped up with a guest mix which features some of the finest Deep Afro House music produced around South Africa.

Funkaholic PT.9

DJ Melo-D joined a live online DJ telethon raising awareness towards #RESPECTBLACKLIVES - all donations went to The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust #BLM #Unity #Together

24 DJ's played an hour each for 24 hours (12pm-12pm) to raise awareness of social injustices and racism that Black people have been going through in the UK and around the world.
This organiser wanted to raise money in aid of The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust which was founded on the premise that inequality must be tackled in all its forms. This includes inequality of access, and of opportunity, wherever it occurs.

By the end of the 24 hour marathon, as DJ Melo-D closed out, the £10,000 target had been hit. This set celebrated the great achievement with some the best classic Soulful Funky House records that have etched its way into UK Black British underground House circuit.

Thank you to everyone your contribution to this cause that mean. Your contributions support the agenda with bringing equality to our community. We need the world and the next generation to understand that Black Lives Matter and what better way to ensure that the future will be better giving all proceeds to the Stephen Lawrence Foundation.
