Another RIHmix (GINA JEANZ)

While sitting at home, drinking vodka, YouTubing keyboard tutorials I came across a J Dilla song I love - "We've Got So Far To Go". This tune is solid evidence of Dilla's genius. As I covered this classic I was filled with intense emotion and awe. It's joyful tones and Dilla's trademark bounce is a reminder as to why this musician is one my biggest influences.

OFF AIR SESSION presents “Swerved” - a collaboration between the sound artist Jinji [Johannesburg, South Africa] @jinji.jpg and visuals from Nawid [Frankfurt, Germany] @nawidooo_s.

Jinji provides us music lovers with body grooving vibes for this session. From Ciara's Body Party, Bruno Mars' Finesse, to Tupac, and many more, the "Swerved" consists many gems of old school flips in afro/baile and house vibes. We love the part of the mix where Jinji adds a bit of his Afrikan Roots to provide a hint of his culture to the mix! 

For more information about Jinji, he is an up and coming producer/dj with a great love for music. He is not defined by one genre which allows him to explore and experiment with different sounds from all over the world and broaden his versatility. We hope to see more of him in action for future collaborations and sessions throughout the endless world of music!

As a collective, we’ve always created from a place of honesty, put our hand up to contribute to the scene and at all times, we aimed to bring something fresh. 

Serving an alternative community, The Dig was created as a collaborative platform that bridges the gaps between an array of music lovers and enthusiasts - from curators to dance floor circle openers. 

We create spaces and music experiences that best represent us and our community. Everything we’ve done thus far as a collective has always been about creating from the heart and the rest will follow.

Today, with great pride and excitement - we introduce The Dig Podcast. You ever think so long and hard about something that you almost end up not doing it? Lol well, you're not alone. A mix of self-doubt,  pseudo perfectionism and always wanting to deliver the perfect product.

2020 is far from the year we planned, conditions will never be right, the timing will never be exact - but we love what we do and we will lead with that. 

In this episode we partner up with @breakfast@khujos(IG), taking a light-hearted look at how things have changed for the local and international music scene, since COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown that followed. 

We’ve also curated music that has either come out during the lockdown period, songs that address the current political climate of change as well as beautiful collabs and classics to lift the spirit.

Good to be back on the airwaves with new music to keep us going in this new normal with the smooth sonics and good vibrations from here and across the pond.

I got to speak with the talented @priya-ragu about her new single release Good Love 2.0. She shared some insight into her creative process, growing up in Switzeland and her Tamil heritage.

‘Good Love 2.0’ is a gorgeously optimistic song which also reflects Priya’s varied influences. A sublime, uplifting groove, the track is elevated by her gloriously warm and melodious vocals.  As with all of her material, ‘Good Love 2.0’ was written by Priya and her brother, Japhna Gold (who also produces the music). 

The vibrant, intimate video for ‘Good Love 2.0’, which was shot in Goa in early 2020 was cast by Priya herself after combing through Instagram and finding a director in Mumbai, a stylist and a lead role also in Delhi.

Priya’s music focuses on spirituality and possibility, yearning and heartbreak, and ‘Good Love 2.0’ is no exception. It projects her idea of an idealistic first love, one that she says is, “Beyond religion, beyond cast, beyond colour. It’s the feeling nothing can tear you apart because it’s so strong.”
