JP Lantieri - "Thirty Something" EP on Flemcy Music


From the days of old, we've grown wise and bold, and we'll live to tell a Flemcy story that'll remain forever told as we chase the volcanic sounds of JP Lantieri, Aaron Suiss, Galestian, and Zy Khan as they erupt cataclysmically from an ancient crater and blitz mercilessly across the baron, frosted landscape in the age of 'Thirty Something' - the second chapter of our 'decades' trilogy, heading straight for our only means of escaping this cold, deserted world.

Flemcy president JP Lantieri's lead mix consumes hectare after hectare to a rampant, psy-trance inspired rhythm filled with blazing, ice-splitting synths, bubbling breaks, broiling atmospheres, and builds powerful enough to pulverise the nearest planet, and the planet after that. This is Lantieri at his very best.

Under the charcoal clouds commanding the skies, we struggle to breathe, ashes blinding our eyes from the deeply hypnotic, and densely layered 'Thirty Something' reconstruction by superb, American dj/producer and globetrotter Aaron Suiss, that merges flawlessly with the horizon like time crossing with our uncertain future.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a destructive torrent of titanic, peak-hour progressive fire balls ignited by Galestian's storming take on Lantieri's original mix begins to rain down sporadically from the blackened heavens and pummel into the frozen-solid lake we must get across if we want to live. With time having never before been more of the essence, we follow the hollow, holy chant guiding us assuredly out of the glacial death trap.

Clinging to our hope we push hard to reach a clearing, and our efforts are rewarded with Zy Khan's invigorating 'Thirty Something' revival. Restoring our vision, purifying our lungs, and replenishing our strength, this miracle concoction of comforting strings, beautiful breakbeat builds, and emotional, folk-inspired vocals is the perfect progressive rejuvenation as we find our way back to base, before heading full throttle towards the distant stars, homeward bound with our heroic tale of these events which came to pass.

When faced with a flood of seemingly impossible, time-sensitive challenges it is re-markable what we able to endure. And when electronic music, like the explosive contents of 'Thirty Something', is exposed to our absorbent senses, time can seem to stop as our imaginations drift into vivid, dramatic worlds. Now we rest, feeling musically blessed, let us now close the door to the ten years before and prepare for what lessons the next decade has in store...

Presenting their second release, Musique de Lune’s Noire division welcomes Ash Mellor & Steve Fokas to the label for their debut single. Hailing from the UK, Ash Mellor is perhaps best known for being half of the Sixty Feet Deep artist moniker. Inspired by the likes of such as John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sasha, Sixty Feet Deep would make their debut in 2017 with a well-received single via Tears, before going on to release a four-track artist showcase via Brian Cid’s Endangered imprint. Meanwhile, Steve Fokas has enjoyed similar success since first emerging in 2020. It was a six-track EP via Endangered which won over progressive and melodic house & techno fans alike, a release which ultimately led to an equally large follow-up via Endangered late last year. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Ash and Steve make their Musique de Lune Noire debut with ‘Because Of You’, alongside remixes from Vlad Jet and Gersh.

The Original Mix finds Ash and Steve masterfully synthesizing their talents into one singular charming vision. Deep and inviting from the outside, it’s tough beats, spacious grooves and cosmic effects set the course for a variety of ghostly vocal fragments and nostalgic arps. Hopeful pads add depth and space across the second act, as the vocal narrative expands onwards to a tastefully elegant finale.

Making his label debut and providing the first remix of ‘Because of You’ is Gersh. The Israeli artist emerged in the indie-dance scene last year with a contribution to Maccabi House’s ‘All Stars 02’ collection, before going on to record projects for Nein Records and Rotten City Files. Now bringing a fresh approach to ‘Because of You’, Gersh aims squarely for the dance floor with big breakbeats and electric rhythms anchoring soaring chords and deconstructed vocals. Tension and drama are at a premiere across a well-constructed second act, as atmosphere melts away and rhythm and groove perfectly segue into a muscular build and ultrasonic conclusion. Perfect for a peak time dance floor.

The release concludes with Vlad Jet also making his label debut with the second and final remix of ‘Because of You’. The Ukrainian artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over a decade, releasing his brand of melodic house and indie dance via Disco Halal, JEAHMON! Records and Sincopat, in turn earning support from Adam Port, Agoria and Moscoman and more. Here he brings a unique approach to ‘Because of You’ with retro-grooves, trippy arps and a thought-provoking atmospheric backdrop. A nostalgic rendition from Vlad Jet which makes for excellent Musique de Lune Noire debuts for himself, Gersh, Ash Mellor and Steve Fokas. Don’t miss it.
