One leads to life by eating Him.

Most of us have heard some form of the saying, “Make every day count.” For an athlete, that means, “Exercise every day.” For a musician, it means, “Practice your instrument.” But what does it mean for a Christian?

When we believe in the Lord Jesus, our sins are forgiven. But something even more amazing also happens—the Lord Jesus comes into our deepest part, our spirit, causing us to be born with God’s life as children of God (Romans 8:16; John 1:12).

As newborn believers, we all start out as “babes” (1 Peter 2:2), and throughout our Christian life, we need to grow. As we grow, the Lord makes His home in our hearts (Ephesians 3:17)—in other words, He spreads from our spirit into our soul so that we match Him in what we think, how we feel about things, and in the choices we make.

So, as Christians, our days count when we contact the Lord and finish the day with more of God in us than when we got up in the morning.

Of course, we ought to set aside time to read the Bible and pray, meet with other believers, and share the gospel. But there are so many little ways to open up to the Lord and fellowship with Him while we’re in the middle of a plain old, regular day. We can: 
Call on the Lord’s name, “O Lord Jesus”;
Talk to the Lord about whatever is on our mind;
Sing a hymn or spiritual song;
Pray for a friend; or
Confess our sins.

Whatever we do, we have so many ordinary days. Let’s let the Lord into all of our unremarkable daily activities and MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT!
