DachaDub #22

For the latest edition of Moments of Light ‘n Darkness I welcome Alastair Kelly, founder of Lempuyang - a UK based label for dub influenced electronic music which he started in 2021.

Over the past years Lempuyang has quietly built one of the most consistent catalogues in the current dub techno zone. Well chosen and curated, no filler. @lempuyang

This mix builds up to some pretty brutal distortion & dub, then relaxes back to a more ambient finish. Flow works through...

What I appreciate most about Alastair is his modesty. He lets the music speak instead of himself. In a landscape where visibility is often mistaken for substance, he is one of the quiet forces who do the actual work, steadily and without asking for the spotlight. People with that kind of dedication keep this scene alive. His way of running a label resonates with what I try to build with MLD.

So if you are into dub related music, head over to the Lempuyang Bandcamp page and dig into the catalogue. Grab a release and give back some of the energy he puts out.

https://lempuyang.bandcamp.com

you can listen to this mix on youtube as well: https://youtu.be/ZmRaC4OuGkA

And I had the opportunity to do a little Q&A with him about the label what you can read on my Substack. Find it here:

Thanks a lot, Alastair, being part of my platform, so much appreciated! ✨💯

Campfire Stories 100 (Through Friedrichshain) by @Chryslsm

~ About The Story ~

I sit by a dancing choir,
of flames that burn in towers.
there are cabins and woodlands,
and pastel and faded flowers.

there is a strange maniac,
that sits on a bucket by the trees.
he sings songs between puffs of smokes,
about horror stories, fates and dreams.

I listen to the chilling crackle,
that lights my eyes in mini-fires.
and hum to the beat of the ukulele,
on the grass path with tracks of tires.

whistle of the ancient winds,
that tell stories of bears and poisonous pears.
the campfire singes down; cool and crisp,
and the maniac disappears.
