I made the instrumental of this song while I was dog sitting in Onaway. I was working off of my laptop and I specifically recall working on it in the bathroom at one point :P

I added the vocal echoy stuff that takes place in the background when I got home and that's all the song was for quite a while. I had it as a private song on here for quite a while, but I didn't really know what I wanted to do with it, though I did know that it was missing something. I never would've thought I would've added lyrics

I came up with the lyrics one night when I couldn't sleep (common occurrence  obv) but this was like 36 hours without having slept. I was a bit loopy and I was writing a bunch of random stuff in my notes for me to remember for the next day. I put the song on and I came up with the first couple lines of the song. I wrote it down and then began to write most of the lyrics that night, although I think some were written another day

on the way home from work, I was listening to 'Stars in Your Eyes' by Herbie Hancock, and I was really digging the bass. when I got home, I wanted to try and make something that had the same feel, but I obviously didn't quite get that same vibe. I recorded the bass over a drum sample I found, and while it is a vibe, it's not the same laidback vibe that I was going for. I named the project 'stars' because the inspiration.

I think I just had drums, guitar, and bass when I recorded the trumpet and I add the other tracks later like the strings, keys, and whatnot

named it last lap because it has a similar affect on me when driving that eurobeat does. it makes me want to floor it, although I obviously can't really do that as it would be illegal :)

I found a drum sample I liked and through the guitar over it, followed by bass. Later that night, I did the humming vocals while trying to keep quiet to not wake up my roommate. I did the trumpet the next day.

In the buildup to dropping this album, I came up with the lyrics and just threw them over the song. I added some new bass and guitar parts to give it the 12bar kinda thing. I also added the trumpets that mimic the humming more recently

The lyrics of the song loosely describe how I spent my summer of 2021. didn't drink or smoke much, but definitely threw lots and lots of darts. shout out to my buddy, Dano :)

I was looking for microwave sounds on Splice when I found the sample that I used that starts out the song, which is why the project is named microwave. I think I did drums first and then bass and keys. I added the guitar a little more recently.

I named it midnight drive because listening to it makes me want to go drive, specifically at night

So I was lying in bed one night, tossing and turning but I have a feeling I won't be able to go to sleep for a while. I think I had Howl's Moving Castle on which usually is a nice thing to have on to fall asleep to, but the movie was mostly over and I was still wide awake.

I eventually gave in and got out of bed at around 2. I went to the kitchen and made a pourover coffee and went back to my room. I started working on this song starting with the chords. I think I had a significant amount of it done by around 5 or 6 at which point I went to bed.

I woke up the next day, and remembered the night of working on the song, so I had to listen and see what I managed to create. I obviously remembered making it, but I was thoroughly impressed with the work I was able to get done. I reworked the song structure to what it is today, but it remained just an instrumental for at least a year.

I tried to put lyrics over it, but nothing really seemed right. I finally was able to come up with something maybe a week before the release of the album. The song is one of the oldest on the album, but it's the most recent in terms of lyrics.

I really like how it turned out, and I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as me:)
I might release it as instrumental along with some others in the future

can't sleep

I might have been under the influence to some degree, and I ended up messing around with reverb and delay and such while singing different stuff. I recorded myself singing Ave Maria and I did a harmony over that. one part of the harmony sounded a bit 'different' I guess. I through it into sampler and that is what made the chords in this song. (that's what gives the name ave)

I just improved some trumpet over that and made up some drums

I tried to speedrun making a song I guess since the project was named speedrun.  I liked the groundwork I laid out, but it needed a little something so I added the appegiator thing. sounds a bit better I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I feel like this song sounds like a coral reef party. like the music is bumpin', the fish are vibin'. that's kinda how I envision it

Not quite sure how this song originated. Think I came up with the guitar and stuff and threw just a kick drum over it at the start. Then trumpet got added and it stayed that way for a while.

I ended up adding some keys and the hihat and snare much later

I wrote the lyrics by just kinda improving over the song and keeping the things that fit and x-ing the things that didn't. there's not much meaning behind any of it :)

I was hanging with the boys in Discord when I found the sample called smooth lines which is the chords. Over the course of an hour or so, I pieced the song together, still in Discord unmuted and everything but not saying anything. I snapped back to reality and showed the boys my creation which I recall being well received

That took place in 2020 on December 23rd (the Eve of Christmas Eve) which is why I originally named it 'eve eve' but I feel 'smooth phases' is quite fitting (and yes I pulled smooth straight from the name of the sample)

Originally named spa because the chord sample used. Pitched it around, pieced the drums together, and probably around 1am, threw the bass on top of it.

It sat like this for a while until I dug it back out and added a little guitar to it
