Encom Part II is one of my favourite tracks from the movie, TRON: Legacy. Massive commendation for Daft Punk who were able to deliver such a unique and epic soundtrack for the film. To me, the composition for the film's entire OST is like the perfect mix of electronic music and acoustic orchestration.

The main theme is of course the most memorable and one of the most grand pieces of the score, but I had an idea for "Encom Part II" specifically. The original piece starts off already with a slightly subtle, but entrancing melody line. Eventually the song roars into loud mix of instrumental layers and hasty rhythms that keep the song pumping until the end. 

At first I wanted to make a multi-instrumental cover like some of my other videos (with guitar and drums, etc), but I thought it would be more interesting to re-create a similar tone for this song with only piano...multiple pianos.

Muhura – Forbidden Love Between Two Worlds
In the misty lands of Mozambique, where baobabs whisper secrets to the wind and water spirits watch over the dreams of mortals, Muhura was born, daughter of a healer and guardian of ancient songs. Her beauty was like the moon reflected in the Limpopo River: serene, unattainable, and full of mystery.
Encounter Between Worlds
One night of eclipse, while Muhura was gathering fire flowers for a healing ritual, a young man appeared before her with eyes like the dawn and a voice like distant thunder. He was N'Kulu, prince of the realm of the immortals, son of the sky spirit and the guardian of the winds. His presence broke the laws of the spirit world: no immortal was to love a human being.

But love, like water, finds cracks in the rock. Muhura and N’Kulu fell in love in silence, amidst whispers of leaves and promises hidden in the mist.

The Trials of the Soul
To be with him, Muhura had to overcome three trials imposed by the ancestors:
1. The trial of the shadowless fire: to cross the burning forest without her soul being consumed. Only those who walk without fear can cross it.

2. The trial of the forgetting river: to swim in waters that erase memory. Muhura had to preserve the memory of N’Kulu while the currents tried to take it away.

3. The trial of the mirror of the dead: to confront her own fears, reflected by the spirits of her ancestors, and accept her destiny without renouncing her humanity.

4. Each trial transformed her. Muhura ceased to be merely mortal: her spirit grew stronger, her song deeper, her gaze wiser.

The Resolution
In the end, the ancestors gathered beneath the Tree of Time. They saw that Muhura's love was not a whim, but a force that unites worlds. They offered her a choice: become immortal and leave her land, or renounce N'Kulu and live as a human.
Muhura chose a third path: to be a bridge between worlds.

Hi,

It's been a while since i've uploaded anything so i thought i'd do something special.

A day before the film is released, i thought i would share this cover of 'An Ideal of Hope' with you all. I believe on the official soundtrack release it is actually called 'What are you going to do when you are not saving the world?'

As with the Inception 'Time' cover, i didn't want to mess around with the arrangement very much and i wanted to keep the dynamics close to the original, particularly for the final impact! 

All the audio here is recorded by me and the rest was programmed with sample libraries. 

I really hope you enjoy this cover and the film when it is released!
