Derrière La Croix & La Bannière se cachent Acide Mat et Lux la Croix. Depuis une dizaine d’années, les Bonnie & Clyde de la techno française parcourent les routes ensemble à travers le monde avec comme bagages leurs projets artistiques. 

Réalisé durant le confinement, cet EP est clairement inspiré de cette période inédite et pesante qui n’est pas sans rappeler la série Black Mirror. Si le duo a choisi de l’intituler Fangs - crocs en anglais - ce n’est pas par hasard. Fangs, c’est la réponse de La Croix & La Bannière face à ce que l’on vit. Fangs, c’est ce que Mat et Lux ressentent là maintenant. Une sensation d’oppression et une envie d’exploser, un besoin de se lâcher. Ils nous livrent un disque sombre et dystopique qui traduit la colère accumulée contre la répression systémique, les lois liberticides et les mesures abusives. Musicalement, cette rage se traduit par les sonorités grinçantes et les rythmiques percutantes de leurs machines, de la TR08 au Volca Bass, en passant par l’Electribe. Qui dit crocs dit chien. Ce côté primitif et régressif on le retrouve dans le choix des rythmiques, des charley et hi hat. Un côté tribal et une forme d’état de transe qui retranscrit l’essence même de la techno.

Attitude punk et provocante, productions crossover inclassables, le duo marseillais reste ici fidèle à son ADN. Techno sombre et acide, sonorités saturées, grosses basses dissonantes et rythmiques percutantes, le tout dans une atmosphère singulière. Fangs, c’est un peu comme un chien qui te montre les crocs. Fait attention, La Croix & La Bannière ne vont pas tarder à mordre !
