‘Memory Man’ Prepare for Debut Single Launch 
Former Snow Patrol bassist features in exciting new Glasgow band

New Glasgow-based indie-rock group, ‘Memory Man’, have confirmed that their debut single ‘Felix Baumgartner’ will be released on October 31st. The band, which features ex-Snow Patrol bassist Mark McClelland, have also arranged a series of promotional gigs to mark the launch.
The single, which is named after the iconic world record-breaking Austrian skydiver, will be performed on STV Glasgow’s Riverside show on Thursday 30th of October, and will also be one of the highlights of Memory Man’s performance when they support Hayley Bonar at popular Glasgow bar, ‘Nice n’ Sleazy’, on Friday 31st of October.

The four-man band, comprised of Stephen Connelly on lead vocals, ex-Grim Northern Social, Liam McAteer on drums, ex Red Light Company guitarist Paul Mellon, and former Snow Patrol bassist Mark McClelland; have only been together for less than a year, but have attracted a positive following and reception from the handful of gigs they’ve played. 
Lead singer Stephen Connelly said: “It feels like a long time coming, but we’re very excited to finally be in a position to launch our debut single. We’ve developed an up-beat sound that fits well with the Glasgow music scene, and we’re all agreed that there’s no better place to kick off the promotion for our single.”
“People have likened us to The Smiths, The Strokes, and The Pixies, which is flattering as we’re all big fans of those particular bands. That said, we believe in carving out our own unique sound, and we’re thrilled that people are already enjoying our music.” 

As well as their interesting sound, the band have also struck up something of an unusual collaboration for the artwork of the single, having teamed up Newcastle-based artist John Parkin. His piece, ‘The Man Who Fell’ will be the cover of the single. 

Connelly said: “It was very kind of John to allow us to use his fantastic piece as part of the artwork for our single. It fits perfectly with our overall vision for the single launch, and we’re positive that the overall product will go down a storm with music and art-lovers alike.”

What would the Smiths sound like if crossed with Dinosaur Jr? This was the question Paul posed to himself, no doubt stoating home one night from Sleazys. Only one way to find out is the answer! 

Of course then you get a band together and some of them don't even like the Smiths or have heard Dinosaur Jr (I know...philostines!) and it evolves into its own thing and sound. But that's ok because everything is so exciting!

So mEMORY mAN, a new and totally awesome band from Glasgow who don't necessarily sound like you'd think.
