0uth returns to immersive love after a year — this time in a completely new, almost weightless form.

The album The Sun also Rising is an ambient drone journey created in 2024, during long train rides. The sound unfolds through slow motion — through fading landscapes outside the window, through quiet walks between carriages, through the muffled life behind each compartment door. Each melody feels like a passing reflection, a breath between stations. Music for those who wait for their destination — and for those who have long forgotten where they’re going.

Visions from the Trumpet: Miles in a Heroin Delirium

In that Norwegian delirium, when heroin circulated in Bill's veins like Scott LaFaro's improvised bassline, Miles Davis' visions were not mere hallucinations—they were full concerts in hell, a fusion of jazz and Nordic chaos. Bill laid on the floor of the cabin, cloudy-eyed, his fingers dancing involuntarily on invisible keys, and Miles materialized out of the smoke—not as a man, but as an ethereal figure with a trumpet for a head, dressed in a tuxedo of flames. 

“Bill, man, what are you doing here in this ice hole?” Miles whispered hoarsely, blowing a note on his trumpet that sounded like the scream of a burning church.

The first vision hit hard, like the intro to “Bitches Brew” – Miles stood on the altar of a burning church in Bergen with his trumpet pointed toward the sky, where the stars formed black metal notes. “Burn it all, Bill,” he said, his solo mixing cool jazz with Varg Vikernes' growls. Bill saw Miles handing a needle to Thor, the pagan god Varg worshipped. 

“Heroin is the elixir of the gods—it makes you immortal, until the last note,” Miles cackled, injecting himself with a dose straight into his trumpet. Wasn't that ironic? Thor, instead of thunder, threw improvised chords, and the church melted to the rhythm of jazz – stained glass windows flowed like melted her*in, forming puddles that reflected the faces of deceased jazzmen: Coltrane, Monk, Charlie Parker – all high on eternity.
 “This is true fusion—jazz burns black metal!” Miles shouted, and Bill laughed ominously, knowing it was delirium, but it sounded better than any recording session.


The second vision was deeper, more introspective, like a ballad from “Kind of Blue”. Miles sat next to Bill in the hut, smoking a cigarette (though in reality it was smoke from burning church wood). “Remember when I overdosed in ‘59? I thought I was playing for the devil,” he said, his eyes shining like needles in the moonlight. Suddenly, the scene changed: they were in a Norwegian forest where the trees were shaped like trumpets and Varg Vikernes was playing a guitar made of saints’ bones. Miles approached Varg: “Your black metal is my jazz on steroids — raw, merciless.” Varg, in the vision, nodded, and together they played a duet: Miles' trumpet harmonized with Burzum's riffs, creating the soundtrack to the apocalypse. Julie injected heroin into the trees, and they came to life, dancing in the flames. “Heroin is the glue that connects worlds,” Miles explained. “Without it, we're just notes on paper.”

I chose 2 recent unfinished tracks, that I had considered layering prior to the disquiet prompt… so I did just that, I set up 2 channels one for each track, one slowed by 10% to roughly match the longer track, I simply adjusted levels for each and had a shared bus channel with additional eq and reverb(s), this in turn joins the originals in the master, which also has some lofi fx and more(!) reverb… recorded the output. Part 1: His name is Nicholas. He is schizophrenic and does not take his medicine.  Every day, morning noon and evening he spends an hour in meditation; at war against the darkness and chaos in the world. He leaves the shower running. he wears a metal pyramid upon his head. He is Osiris reincarnated. 
Strangers gather round in the hundreds to verbally abuse him for cheap laughs. Others simply play into his psychosis and feed the fire to their own amusement. Sometimes i get to speak to him. I ask him how he has been. I tell him he looks healthy and i hope he is doing well. I ask what his favorite ice cream flavor is. 
Cookies and cream. 
I tell him his smile lights up the world. I let him know i hope he takes time to take care of himself. I wish better for him but i dont know what that better is. but every now and then I pop in to see him still meditating against darkness while sick hearted strangers ridicule him.

Part 2: A reoccurring dream I have had from adolescent years to this day (but less frequent). At some point in my dream I touch an object or it touches me and I begin to float up into space. I spend the rest of the dream floating through space just thinking about things. recently I thought about Nicholas.
