The base piano track and the base vocal track in this song are completely improvised. I sat down at the piano, hit record, and let whatever came out, come out. I then added the harmonies, of course. Since the song is improvised, it's a bit unorganized/nonsensical but I suppose that adds to it in some way. Let me know if you have thoughts. Enjoy, friends.

Oof. Recorded in an attic “closet” in a Newport, KY house I rented. 

The drums absolutely suck because I was trying for a real feel. I rarely did second takes so it is what it is. 

It still felt powerful to me as I wanted to convey the basic need to be wanted and loved. 

I’m afraid that it sounds a bit “Phil Collins-ish at times. 

The transition of the piano sound toward the end was unintentional but really brings the song to the next simple desperate plea to be loved and wanted. 

The first “Can you save me, have some mercy” round is a favorite of mine and gives me “U2” vibes.

I totally adore the ending.
