New for 2014

Memphis Industries are delighted to announce the signing of Menace Beach; led by twin vocalists Ryan Needham and Liza Webster.

The Leeds based band boast a revolving cast of local luminaries in their line up, including MJ of Hookworms on lead guitar Nestor Matthews of Sky Larkin on drums, Robert Lee of Pulled Apart By Horses on guitar/ bass Matt Spalding on bass and, very occasionally, Paul Draper ex-Mansun legend on guitar and back up vocals.

Following two quick fire releases on French imprint Desire Records and the acclaimed Too Pure Singles Club, their debut release for Memphis Industries will be the five track Lowtalker EP on 13 January 2014 on 12” and download. 

Ryan says of the new EP :

“If, lyrically, the first load of songs we did were a document of losing it again, being ill, moving cities, and all that comes with that, then I guess the songs on Lowtalker are about the aftermath of that; getting better, making friends and trying to reconnect mentally and spiritually. I feel like there’s a lot of positivity on there”. 

Lowtalker was recorded, produced and mixed by Hookworms’ MJ at his Suburban Home studios in Leeds over four pizza, coffee and falafel fuelled days.


Menace Beach - Where I Come From

The forthcoming new single 'Mesmerise' by Temples, taken from the band's eagerly anticipated debut album 'Sun Structures'.  The record is released by Heavenly Recordings on 10th February 2014 and 11th February in the US by Fat Possum.

The 12-track album was self-produced by the band’s James Bagshaw and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer. The album will be available on CD, download and double vinyl.

The debut single from Temples is released by Heavenly Recordings on Monday 12th November 2012.

Both tracks were recorded in early September and produced by Temples in Pyramid Studios, their home studio in Kettering.

Temples have been confirmed as main support on the forthcoming Mystery Jets tour alongside London shows with Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs and Tribes. They will also be playing the London Calling festival in Amsterdam.
