Scenes from our Classic Future is the realization of three songs and two projects that came together as one. As young aspiring musicians since the early age of 12, Greg Paulus and John Camp practiced playing jazz standards into the wee small hours of the morning together. Eventually the two would find themselves both in New York under new and more electronic circumstances. Deeply indebted to the mastery of Herbie Hancock, Paulus and Camp would reconnect, this time with synthesizers, and continue on their musical journey together.  

On one particular day, Camp played Paulus a track titled Remo. Paulus instantly fell in love with the track but both felt it needed something more… Paulus insisted on laying down vocals and within 15 minutes had the lyrics written out and soon after added trumpet. 

Around the same time Paulus was revisiting Surf Song, a track he and Brian Derdiarian had been working on sporadically for some time. The two would record long one-take jams on trumpet, Juno 106, and guitar, feeding them all thru looping and delay pedals. From these sessions they would find a stride and in addition to Surf Song, record Fire in the Sky. Similar to Remo, Fire in the Sky would come together in a lightning bolt sort of way. When adding the final touches, Camp was around and was enlisted to add piano which would bring the whole EP together. 
  
With the three tracks complete, Paulus began to see a correlation between them all. Each, in one way or another embodied the feeling of when the beach meets the ocean. Remo was distinctly reminiscent of their times spent on Rockaway Beach: The trips out in the car or bus, drinking and smoking on the shore and slowly making their way back into the Brooklyn night to get crazy. Fire in the Sky and Surf Song had a distinct West Coast vibe, most likely due to the fact that Derdiarian, being from California, could not help but bring that West Coast swagger to the music. At the end of the day, the idea of having their good friend Tanner Ross add his signature touch to the project was a necessity. Ross would take Remo and make it his own hazy gem. With that, Paulus would end up with four songs that reminded him of that special place where the sand hits the ocean.  

As luck would have it Paulus would manage to take two pictures (found on the 12") that perfectly encapsulated his feelings for these songs. One, a beautiful day on the Rockaways and the other, a lucky ride in his buddy's Corvette Stingray up the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu. 

Scenes from our Classic Future is a collection of songs that Paulus, Camp, and Derdiarian love and have labored over for a long time. They hope you enjoy them as much as they do.

Having made you sweat down in ‘The Bassement’ before revealing their ‘Truesoul’ thanks to Mendo and Danny Serrano, Clarisse celebrate reaching the big 4-0 with a double drop of Italians Harvey Hunzed. The alias of lifelong friends and colleagues Nicola Zanni and Roberto Vasapollo, HH have a history of honourable hook-ups in house both individually and as a duo. Two of the country’s finest can name Marco Lys and Joe T Vannelli as trusted collaborators, and the likes of John Digweed, M.A.N.D.Y, Pete Tong, and Danny Tenaglia as complimentary charters of their sound. This is on top of having broken bread with Sven Vath, Loco Dice, Seth Troxler and Dubfire at the top turntable at one time or another.

Fans of the recent ‘Transpose’ podcast will relish HH’s immersive slickness. ‘Sheeta’ is shaped by a tenderly hollowed flow of keyboard glances, shining as an exotically lone beam through disco wilderness done as a downplayed minimalism. Bringing a smothering deep house heat to the feel of grooving breezily and uninhibited, Harvey Hunzed take lounge aesthetics and spike them with a bassline bobbing and weaving up and over your shoulder, boosted by snatches of classic house strings and what sounds like a submarine sonar used to indicate how low Double H can go. Mendo’s beefed up beats take the original off its tiptoes and into a dancefloor kicker that could shape a summer; still balancing shades, the glass-blowing riff gets to serve greater Balearic inspiration second time around, ringing sweetly like the toll of a White Island chapel while encased in a time-honoured essence of jacking.

‘Rhayla’ weaves together wind chime/bottle top melody and a sophistication of samba-educated caginess, an inquisitive underlie of keys straining in their stubbornness. It follows the A-side with hints of hardened sexiness dictating snake-hipped movement and dancefloor sobriety; ever-ready, yet with eyes narrowed in suspicion of their being something beyond the DJ booth. A 10 minute long stretch of deep house balances comfortably on a smooth-sour axis in order to keep fires burning until sunup.

Following his well received remix of Ane Brun 'To Let Myself Go' on Objektivity just a few weeks ago, it is finally time for André Hommen's very own, first ever solo EP called "The Bottom Line". This groovy number consists of three tracks that are style-wise all very different, showing off Hommen's wide range as producer.

EP's title track 'The Bottom Line' was first featured in André's Boiler Room NY set (February, 2014), receiving great response and a massive "Track ID?" -explosion on social media. 'Epiphany' and 'Reach Out' on the B side do not disappoint either - as groovy as they are energetic, they would fit well in different stages of any set.
