Menqui is a Berlin-based music enthusiast, always on the hunt for musical treasures ranging from all around the globe. Aside from his immaculate credentials as a DJ, he is part of the monthly radio show „Past Forward“ on Cashmere Radio, co-curates the R.i.O. label and produces music as one third of the „Dolphins“. His mixtapes are mainly made to float away and dream to, but if you’ve ever heard him out you will be aware that he also feels at home in a more dancefloor orientated environment

Co-running R.i.O. label and being part of the monthly Past Forward Show on Cashmere Radio, @Menqui always strives to offer quality music. He DJs in Neukölln spots like @Sameheads, OTB, Ziegra11..., and at Fusion, @cosmicgathering, Nation of Gondwana, Zmar... Festivals. 

His wonderful mix for our Music for Indoors series www.instagram.com/ecoutesauvert, locks its slow rhythm & mood right from the start, flowing through deep ambient along meditative grooves. 

@Menqui was born in Pforzheim, a small city on the border of the beautiful black forest. After visiting Berlin a few times, he moved there in 2013. In his teenage years, his older Brother inspired him with his CD collection which was focused on US Hip-Hop and electronic projects like Prodigy, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and so on. He also had the chance to learn the violin, but the instrument never "clicked" with him, thus stopping around 13 years old. 

Later he turned his interests to Skateboarding and roots reggae, dub and jungle musically. As they didn't have any good events in their hometown, together with his good friend Benedikt Frey, they organized events called "Larifari", which were mainly focused on dub techno and deep house. 

Since then, @Menqui has spent much time in record shops and browsing the web discovering all kinds of music, from obscure German tracks from the 70s and 80s to psychedelic funk from all around the globe to more wavy stuff, Ambient, Krautrock, and much more...

In 2019, he founded @riolabel with @freybenedikt and @daloworks, to release experimental dance music with a psychedelic touch, which is also suited for home listening.

Next up at Edwin Music channel is Berlin-based producer and DJ @benediktfrey and his close friend @menqui with whom he co-runs the label R.i.O.

For EDWIN MUSIC CHANNEL, he joined forces with his friend Menqui, who is overseeing the administration for the R.i.O. label, is part of the Berlin-based Muting The Noise Record Store and Distribution crew, runs a radio show for Cashmere Radio and plays regular in all those small, but delicate Berlin bars and little dancefloor venues. Together they prepared an epic mix, created live and direct in Menqui’s living room, featuring all sorts of music from pop, Trip-Hop, and Hip-hop to free-tripping electronic grooves. This mix is a tribute to „Takeshi Terauchi“, the legendary Japanese guitarist known for his razor-sharp picking and surf rock-infused playing. It features his solo works and collaborations with f.e. „The Blue Jeans“, capturing the energy of 1960s eleki music. From fast-paced instrumentals to cinematic twangs, it celebrates Terauchi’s unique style of blending traditional melodies with Western surf, garage, and fuzz-drenched psychedelia.

Menqui is a Berlin based dj & digger constantly on the hunt for musical treasures ranging from disco to cosmic synth pop, wave, proto house and many other fields. Besides sharing his music from behind the decks he has also been involved in a variety of different projects - f.e. by hosting „Past Forward“ a monthly radio programme on cashmereradio.com, where he presents open-minded listening sessions together with kryptic dj and hendrik stein. Since 2019 he also takes care about the newly established label called R-i-O along Nadia D'Alò  and Benedikt Frey. Rumors are that there might even be a connection to the infamous, yet mysterious 'Serious Trouble' releases.
