The cabalistic duo Ak’chamel strikes again with a second record called A Mournful Kingdom of Sand. Following the publicly and critically acclaimed The Totemist (AKU1023) released in 2020, this album sucks the listener into another esoteric journey which - according to the band - is a perfect soundtrack for the desertification of our world.

Ak’chamel perform in mystifying outfits with mostly indigenous and homemade instruments. They often play in unusual locations like laundromats and dilapidated buildings, being thrown out by security guards on several occasions. They have garnered journalistic acclaim and received dubious threats by inebriated hipsters. Talk about high praise!

Noémi Büchi’s first EP for -OUS, ‘Hyle’ is a reference to the ancient greek term for ‘matter’ - which is composed of fire, water, air and earth - and only comes into existence when ‘form’ is attached to it. Balancing between the elements of electroacoustic music, neo-classical composition and sound design, ‘Hyle’ unfolds in three compositions that translate ‘matter’ into music. «We all are matter, and music is matter. My compositions convert personal and collective memories between trauma and joy into music that is rooted in the emotional dimension, but also intends to spark intellectual euphoria», she explains.

Consciously returning to the appreciation of harmony,
Noémi Büchi unfolds its musical potential through chordal combinations and reduced musical intervals. Her pieces are written with a classical understanding of compositional forms, structures and textures, which she translates to experimental electronic music. Just as life can be segmented into layers of knowledge and experience, Noémi Büchi composes in layers: she explores the potential of harmonies and dissonance, contrasts rhythmic figures with disruptive moments and playfully emphasizes irregularities, in order to expand our listening habits and create dense moments and harmonic grandeur alike. ‘Hyle’ is a prelude to her debut album ‘Matter’, which will be released on -OUS in 2022.

Composer and sound artist Noémi Büchi explores electronic and symphonic maximalism. Her music is defined by a delicate blend of electronic-orchestral condensations and textural rhythms. She strives for a combination of harmonic and dissonant sonorities, to evoke both intellectual and emotional euphoria. Her 2019 debut EP ‘Matière’, released through Light of Other Days, attracted widespread attention within the experimental music scene. In 2020, she released a second EP Prismic Passages on the Leipzig-based tape label Visible Dinner. -OUS will be releasing her debut album ‘Matter’ and its prelude ‘Hyle’ in 2022, as well as the debut album of Musique Infinie, a collaboration between Noémi Büchi and Feldermelder.

The Funnel is the debut album by composer, instrument builder and artist Wojciech Rusin.

Combining field recordings from Port Talbot Steelworks, self built electro-acoustic instruments and vocals drawn from alchemical texts and renaissance polyphony, The Funnel is chamber-musique-concrète for the wondering troubadour of the 21st century.

"Passport to an OBSCENELY DYNAMIC, contemplative dimension - “The Funnel” is a set of ancient imaginations in a stranglehold of electronics and steel factory atmosfears, originally composed for Radiophrenia by Wojciech Rusin and now gloriously pressed and presented by Glasgow based Akashic Records.

Equipped with some adapted instruments and occultist readings (decent dose of RATHER GLOOMY Greek-Egyptian philosophy in there too) Rusin composes and engineers an unpredictably celestial moving picture for the ear - the auto-tuned intro “Paolo’s Dream” and the bellowing baritones of “Salvation” diffusing into a solemn soul-purging of post-pythagorean(?) electro-organums.

“Transmutation” sounds like a petri dish of duplicating cells, contorted beauty with strings soaring like some sorta solar wind, the internalised ecstasy fading into the ambient clatter and percussion of “Cyclops”. The brain really scrambles trying to find points of reference - so we’ll shoot from the hip and go for some ridiculous meeting point between Księżyc’s “Rabbit Eclipse” and the more contemporary work of Pierre Bastien.

Side B offers further consuming, haunted chamber music - “Sacrifice” sounds like some possessed, hologram’d high priest drowning in a sea of sub-bass and gristly electronics before rounding up this destabilising noggin-scrambler with the near ten minute Open Music enchantment “Jupiter”

Musique Pour La Danse is proud to present Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" released in 1992. Members for this project are John Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and Danny Hyde.

The OST, to quote John Balance's interview for Compulsion Online, "is [a] slightly new agey, progressive house type thing". 

Another way to approach it is as a delightful collection of balearic beats, smoking jazz not far removed from Badalamenti's work with David Lynch, somewhat of an ambient house album for your home listening and early morning sunrise dances, Coil style.

Taken from the original masters provided by Danny Hyde, "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" features a new sexy edit of the main theme. Bonuses  "Nasa-Arab" and "Omlagus Garfungiloops" are taken from the 1992 CD only "Stolen And Contaminated Songs", both being original versions of the radically reworked (for the OST) "Nasa-Arab 2" and "Exploding Frogs" in order to balance the whole album and extend the listening pleasure.
