Returning to Intrepid Skin after her brilliant debut EP, and following on from a string of acclaimed releases since then, Berlin-based producer, DJ, and label owner Valerie Ace presents four new cuts of powerful hard dance and techno. Strass & Stress is out 1st March as both vinyl and digital.

With a background in organising DIY raves and a commitment to community-led efforts in electronic music, Valerie carefully fuses references from a range of genres into a singular, contemporary take on techno. Guided by an instinctive ear for experimental, groove-driven frameworks, her strain of dance music is hard-edged but mischievous, playful but heartfelt.

Diving straight into the peak hours, opening track ‘Taking a Risk’ is a swirl of hard kicks, frantic alarms and distorted leads; a statement of intent for what is to follow. Hot on its heels is the aptly-titled ‘Slay’- a marching roller with double drops of acid, warped sonics and echoing glitches. Plunging into a hazier zone, ‘Anxious not Afraid’ takes an intoxicated spin on psytrance, building a vast acoustic space with equal parts tension and release. Closing off the EP, ‘How To Fit In’ jumps back onto the floor with an unrelenting spiral of industrial-leaning hard drum chaos.

Strass & Stress is an all gas no brakes package of four crucial cuts from a producer on top of her game.

Valerie Ace - Taking A Risk [Intrepid Skin]

Two years after her debut on SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin, Valerie Ace is already counted as a quickly rising voice in techno, her work featuring on Anetha's Mama Told Ya, Mála Ádh, Haven, and more. In 2023 she founded her own Hardwon imprint, now on its 8th release and featuring established and upcoming names like Ryan James Ford, WTCHCRFT, and others.

Now Rant & Rave offers her third vinyl full EP, Givers & Takers, confirming her premier place in contemporary techno. The title track starts ominous, pensively drawing tension over a slow breakbeat as busy percussion patterns interlock, leading into its intense second half, where heavy bass doubles down and pushes to a bruising climax. ‘Eat Dirt’ takes after its title, grinding faces into grit as it switches between breaks and straight sections while pounding the floor into submission. ‘A Moment Lost’ loses no time charging out of the gates, ratcheting tension with quickly evolving snares, the filtered bass punches driving the track over steadier, atmospheric background sounds. The afternoon or afterhours vibe of ‘3PM’ is accentuated by seasick synth layers contrasted against malignant drums, unsure if the drugs are wearing off or kicking back in for another trip.

After the success of the New Frames debut EP on Green Fetish, 'Fatal Strategies'. We had to circle back and have a remix EP carried out.

After getting some of our favorite and uncompromising producers on board. We are proud to present a spectrum of techno variety for you.

Opening up the A Side is a Hard hitting re-interpretation from Valerie Ace. Which then leads into a heavy driving remix from our boy EAS.

The B Side continues with contrast with a glitchy, driving Mickey Nox Remix and then closing out with a groove chapter from none other than VILLA.

This remix EP was able to be such a banging release thanks to the original detail and crafty sound design from the Heavy Hitters 'New Frames'.
