"Baraye" was written by Shervin Hajipour. It consists of 28 tweets gathered from the internet, each of which suggests a different reason to protest the Iranian regime. Less than 48 hours after posting his song to Instagram, on September 29, Hajipour was arrested. His post was removed, but it was too late: the song had already been listened to 40 million times and become the anthem of the ongoing struggle - sung in the streets by unveiled women and schoolchildren, and blaring from stereos throughout the night.
