Balancing Act are back with their first single of 2024, ‘She Plays The Theremin’, their catchiest track yet. Produced by longtime Balancing Act collaborator, Richard Woodcraft (Radiohead, Paolo Nutini), ‘She Plays The Theremin’ stars swinging riffs and an addictive hook, showcasing the quartet’s expertise in crafting an irresistible indie-pop banger, whilst effortlessly welcoming in the most lovable and snappy traits of punk rock classics. ‘She Plays The Theremin’ is Balancing Act’s first track of 2024, and sees them ready to showcase the fruits of their labour.

At the start of 2023, behind closed doors it wasn’t certain if Bare Jams would be able to continue. However, instead of throwing in the towel, it was through a cathartic writing process that the Bare Jams ship was steered into fresh and exciting waters, giving way to their second album “No Rain. No Flowers.” All written in a relatively short burst at the start of 2023, the album has an overall theme of keeping loved ones close, looking after them, and, more broadly, perseverance.

With this album Bare Jams show they are not afraid to take on the serious challenges we all face. However, they are eternal optimists and worldly-wise enough to know we can absolutely turn things around and find our way through the mire. Looking at the world around us, this positive reinforcement is perhaps what we all need to hear. Don’t go numb!

Sometimes, a song comes together quickly with a sense of familiarity. In my experience, it is these songs that infectiously delight. 'It Starts Again' premiered on BBC 6 Music, has been described as "a moment, a buzz, similar to the likes of Arab Strap 'First Big Weekend' or 'Public Service Broadcasting ' where moreish energy paired with an understated spoken word vocal captivates and embraces".

"SUITCASE" is the debut single of the wandering songwriter Meri Lu Jacket, released on all digital platforms on Friday, February 23, 2024. It's more than just a song; it's a journey through soulful indie pop that tells the story of a seemingly trivial argument between two lovers. But beneath the surface, there's a profound sense of loneliness and the unease of feeling incomplete without each other's love. 

The song was produced by Alex Marton for Firstline Production with guitars by Filippo Scandroglio. 

With her captivating voice and enveloping melodies, Meri Lu Jacket captures the essence of this universal human experience, turning it into a track that strikes straight to the heart. It's a fusion of emotions and sounds that leaves an indelible impression.

Bang Goes The Gun is an uptempo alt-pop gem which takes inspiration from Motown and the Northern Soul scene, updating the sonic palette to include synths, orchestra hits, and, as always, the dual male/female vocals of Chris McIntosh and Jen Davies. It's  the third and final single before the band’s debut album is released in May 2024 via the band's own Vinyl only record label, Defend Vinyl Records. Following on from Do The Right Thing (the previous BBC Radio 1 supported single)

Lucy Starr - Shame

Meri Lu Jacket was born in the United Kingdom but grew up in Italy.
She is a singer, songwriter, composer, and musician.
She graduated in Songwriting from the renowned British Modern Music University in Bristol.

Her performances are very engaging due to her ability to blend different musical styles.

Despite being very young, she has collaborated with many artists from various music scenes, mainly due to her travels throughout Europe playing in the various corners and squares of many cities.
She is now producing songs with her team that will gradually see the light first as singles, then collected in an EP or Album.
In these tracks, she is collaborating with various talents like Tony Moore, an experienced musician known for his time with Iron Maiden and Cutting Crew, famous for the iconic song "Died in Your Arms".

Armed with her music and her guitar, Meri Lu Jacket has participated in Sofar Sounds in iconic cities such as Paris, Gothenburg, London, and Sofia.
Every time she tries to take her audience on emotional journeys through her performances whether she is in intimate evenings in living rooms or in concerts with a larger audience, for her, it makes no difference, her approach is the same.

In Tuscany, she is the entrepreneurial mind behind "Maremma Unplugged", a company that organizes exclusive intimate concerts in the picturesque hills, adding a touch of magic to the Tuscan landscape.

Finally, in London, Meri Lu Jacket has a residency at the renowned "Bedford Pub", a place synonymous with legendary performances by artists like Ed Sheeran, KT Tunstall, James Morrison, and James Bay. Not only does she perform on stage with her performances once a month, but she also takes on the role of guest and presenter.
