He’d seen them, glowing eyes in the windows, shadows that flitted about the grounds, shutters and doors that created unnatural rhythms in the whistling wind. He knew there was something in that old manor, but none else believed him. The time of ghosts and ghouls was long past they said, and such stories were bogeymen used only to keep nearby children away from the condemned property. They insisted, but he knew better. He’d venture in, where none had gone in living memory, and obtain the proof to make his words ring true. He was no crazed man, no, he saw what was truly there.

Armed with camera and wit alone, he dared tread across the estate, treading the worn stone pathways of its garden towards the set of great oaken doors that were its maw. To his surprise, they open almost effortlessly, as though he was meant to enter, as though the house had been expecting a visitor. They closed not only effortlessly but somehow more quickly too, but the man did not fear; this was only the first of many grains of truth to be gathered from this place where non else dared enter. As he ventured further inwards, the walls seemed to warp to greet him, a wave undulating through their construction that moved at precisely his pace. The pictures that hung on the walls warped too, transforming into uncanny visages of the humanoid figures that seemed almost imprisoned within. Deeper and deeper into the manor he went, documenting these strange occurrences with such diligence that he nearly failed to note that he had re-emerged into the manor’s great hall, despite never turning from the course that had lead him from it some time ago. As he looked up from his shutter, there before him was a horrific form, a melding of beast and man within an otherworldly miasma that seemed to sap all of the heat from his bones. The though horrified, the man’s face contorted itself into a grin, as the evidence he sought lay here before him. With not a thought for what might follow, the man’s finger triggered the shutter, capturing the form of what he had known to exist for so long. Elated, he turned to leave the mansion but ran up against a barrier of invisible force, the lens of the camera that now lay on the floor and the tomb that he too was now captured within.

TEDDY KILLERZ bring their latest single to EATBRAIN with GHOSTS//FINAL BOSS, the latest in the ursine trio’s unstoppable rampage throughout the Neurofunk scene. Within, they deliver another dose of their horror-influenced sound with bass drum bombardments, electrified arpeggios, and earsplitting baselines alike, which morph the EATBRAIN horde into sonic manifestations of fear.

Born atop the forgotten ruins of a crumbling city, a new civilization had emerged from the ruin wrought by demonkind upon the landscape that lay beneath them. Lead by their prophets of a new and powerful faith, the people of this civilization had risen up against the demon kings, wielding the magic of their divine allies as weapons with which to exorcise their being once more from the land. This war though hard fought had born fruit, and with the slaying of the final demon the people had rejoiced, celebrating their victories with monumental constructions to mark the beginning of a new and golden era. Foremost of these was the great cathedral that lay at the heart of their new city, built both as a space of worship for the populace and as an eternal ward of imprisonment for the souls of demonkind which could not be slain, forever condemning them to an incorporeal existence under the watchful eye of the divine.

Ages had passed since then, and time had once again ground its steady edge against the minds of the people and upon the stones and timbers that had supported the great city for so long. Ritual had been forgotten, and structures of greater grandeur had been built as the city expanded, relegating it’s once monumental cathedral to neglect. Thus it was that the falling of only a single candle had lit an aged timber in it’s great hall, in so doing weakening the ancient wards that had kept the demonic spirits at bay. Ever vigilant in their ceaseless desire to escape, the demon kings fanned this flame with their focused ire, nurturing it from a single mote into a overwhelming conflagration that tore at the runic chains that had bound them for so long. Before long, the roaring of the flames was augmented by the howls of demonic spirits set free from a millennia of imprisonment, their visages taking form in the fire as manifestations of their burning rage. As the inferno bellowed ever higher, the city cowered in fear, for it was clear that the time of DIVERGENCE had come once more.

EATBRAIN unleashes the full fury of their horde with the fourth installment in their DIVERGENCE compilation series, a gargantuan 26 track compilation filled to the brim with new tracks from EATBRAIN mainstays and newcomers alike. Brought together by their affinities for EATBRAIN’s unrestrained neurofunk sound, the artists within deliver a tour de force of the label’s guiding philosophy with ferocious basslines and terrifying sonic atmospheres alike, delivering a mammoth series of tracks set to inspire the fervor of the label’s horde in the months to come.

Taking a step back, the inventor looked upon his creation with a mixture of pride and awe. Above him towered a clockwork golem with blood of fire and skin of steel, a protector of that which he had ordained worthy of protection. It’s profile displayed the raw strength of the forges from which it had been wrought, actualized by the servos and motors which drove its mighty body forwards in lumbering motion. Atop its head roared a constant blaze, its uncontainable life energy surging forth from any available outlet in a ferocious display of raw vitality. In a contemplative moment, the inventor then looked upon himself, diminutive and weak by comparison to the champion he had created. He thought of its purpose, shedding a momentary tear for those like him who might fall under its wrathful gaze, but then shook his head with renewed resolve. “It must be done” he said to himself, “They have not the STATE OF MIND necessary to rule this world”. Turning his eyes back to the golem, the inventor set his titanic creation forth on its grim path with naught but a single nod.

With a bellowing roar of the blaze within its skull, the golem emerged from the forest of its creation in a moment of stark contrast as it began to take its creators vengeance upon the city that lay before it. It was itself a city of steel and flame, which tore relentlessly at the lands around it in an exploitative & all consuming hunger. Jets of flame shot forth from the golem’s maw as it tread upon the inferior structures beneath it, reducing that built of this hunger to the component parts it so wantonly consumed. As it stood within the inferno, the golem itself began to feel its own gnashing teeth, the heat of the flames slowly stripping its steel skin to the bone. With a final titanic roar the golem reached a point of criticality, exploding in a massive gout of flame and molten shrapnel which leveled all that remained of what had once been the great city. Watching from high within the forest, the inventor nodded his head in a farewell to his creation, assured by it’s ultimate cry that this land was safe once again from those who would do it harm.


STATE OF MIND returns to EATBRAIN with four reimaginings of their past tracks by themselves and others within the harder side of Drum & Bass. Receiving a flip by Italian neurofunk trio IHR is the notorious collab with label boss Jade 'HIGHLANDER', which features the addition of a motive & fluid reece bassline atop the track’s already driving drumbeat for a dancefloor devastating sonic combination. STATE OF MIND themselves present a VIP of GIANT, which smashes forth on massive drums accentuated by simultaneous bass stabs in a titanic sprint beneath detuned tonal sprites. BYPASS is remixed by MOB TACTICS, whom bypass nothing as they push the track into overdrive in a flurry of furious basses, frenetic arpeggios and brief moments of levity provided by snippets of vocals. Closing the EP is the SYNERGY remix of TIME SLIP FT. KRYPTOMEDIC, which rides the MC’s narration upwards in an ever intensifying crescendo towards a distorted realm of metallic basses that rocket out above their electrified companions and an unstoppable drumbeat. In all, the STATE OF MIND REMIXES morph some of the prolific duo’s most powerful track on EATBRAIN into monstrous new forms, setting them up for further dominance on future dancefloors.

Announced by the trend setting platform UKF, Lights Out has become a hotly tipped collaborative project which sees two of the most heavyweight figures in the drum & bass world’s darkest corners join forces for a ground-breaking merging of talents. Known through his pivotal part in Eatbrain’s super-league, the Bulgarian stalwart L 33 has received pride of place amongst many of the scene’s biggest platforms, including Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 6’ and Drum & Bass Arena compilations as well as Ram Record’s sub imprint Program.

MC Coppa is the other half of the Lights Out syndicate and since his Coppa Live touring circuit, he’s become the notable face for many Eatbrain nights globally, showcasing his lyrical prowess and stage presence on huge festival stages. The announcement that MC Coppa and L 33 are merging their talents has set anticipation for their first release; ‘Sorcery!’ and ‘S.E.A.L.S’ are the first look into what they have forthcoming throughout 2019 and beyond, with both representing a formidable launch pad. 

The single’s A-side ‘Sorcery!’ certainly sets the tone and it creates a landscape which drags you into its snapping claws, leaving you no time to escape. The cut-throat bassline striking through the heart of this track is typical of the L33 sound, one which he has become renowned for and a signature which has earned him a staggering audience. Coppa adds his crooning vocals into the mix and as a result, you’re made aware of their harmonious co-operative might. 

The reverse features ‘S.E.A.L.S’, this time taking you down a route which sees L33 flip the switch and deliver a more half-time motion, gearing you up for a second drop after the first catapults you into its first raucous breakdown. Once again L 33 gives a masterclass in production, pedalling his encompassing atmospherics which draw in Coppa’s punchy vocals. Coppa and L 33 go straight for the jugular although this can only be expected from a pair who each have their own formidable place within the drum & bass scene. They are continuing this assault throughout 2019, with ‘Sorcery!’ and ‘S.E.A.L.S’ being the beginning of a journey which will see them become a definitive force yet again within the neurofunk subgenre.

Merikan AKA Guiliano Gronholz is a hard hitting neuro producer and DJ situated in Naples, Italy. Early in his life, he began attending hardcore raves and immersing himself in the music scene where he developed a passion for various types of electronic dance music including psytrance, dubstep and primarily – Drum and Bass. Demand for his production and performances has been a staple of the EU scene since his eruption into the drum and bass scene, and he is at the forefront of the harder and more futuristic end of the electronic music spectrum.
