Austin native Somatoast returns with his second Gravitas album release, ‘Goop’, available now on all digital outlets. No stranger to the experimental and psychedelic realms of electronic music, Mark Rubin draws on IDM and glitch influences to provide a seven track sonic thrill ride full of visceral soundscapes and alluring melodies. Intricate sound design is his hallmark, and with finesse he effortlessly incorporates his refined palette into both dubby and downtempo frameworks.

‘Goop’ begins with “Nodus Tollens”, a smooth and laid back opener with heavy focus on ominous ambiance. The futuristic concoction “Obscurity Security” comes next, chock full of cosmic textures which perfectly set the tone for the entire album. Wonky and upbeat, “Polytricks” resets the pace before diving into the dreamy title track, a silky creation sure to send you adrift through the galaxy. “Spunning Song” builds on the celestial theme and injects velvety, groovy basslines for a funky and fluid finish. The last original offering on the album, “Robot Rain Drops”, is at times sensual and seductive, but the blissful flow is interrupted with upbeat sections peppered throughout. Wrapping up the release, remixing artist Zonra layers his abstract atmospheric style over the already sturdy foundation provided by Somatoast for his take on “Goop”.

Mindex - Creator of futuristic sound, hailing from Moscow, presents his third release on the Australian Psy Bass label-flagship Merkaba Music. As in all previous Mindex works "ReFocused" delivers compositions with scrupulous treatment of nuances, expressive melodies, layered monstrous bass and syncopated rhythms. The constant thirst for experimentation and the discovery of new audio Universes inspired Slava to ReFocus himself, pushing the boundaries and concepts of modern Electronica.

Eight ultimately psychedelic bass stories impregnated with the mood of the Middle East, mysticism, and shamanic journeys are glued together with a tight grid of infinite sonic events, which will not let the listener's attention fade for even for a second. Full spectrum fluctuations, the variety of microtonal movements and melodic phrases have the intention of exfoliating consciousness. They transport the listener into a state of hypnotic bliss, allowing the experience of simultaneously staying in several dimensions at once. The remix of a track of Altai’s musical healers Vena Portae is also featured on the album. "Original composition" is a eardrum caressing Ethno Ambient soundscape, which Mindex could not indifferently pass up.

Although many producers attempt to bridge palpable psychedelia into their music, few do it as well as Texas producer Somatoast, who's debut EP "Withinity" is out April 30th on Gravitas Recordings. Swirling chord progressions mix with a motley palette of virtuoso sound design, assuring this album is perfect for a headphone excursion. However, this does not detract from the four track EP's danceability -- strong rhythm is carried through the dubby basslines and bouncy drum arrangements. Deeply textured atmospheres wash through the listener's headspace no matter the physical environment, highlighted by fluttering echoes and spacious reverb. Fans of Tipper, Bluetech, Kalya Scintilla, and Heyoka will truly enjoy this special release.
