Bassment - Goloka Dhama

Sonic scapes of sound and substance may rouse the keen ear into discovery. When one really listens, everything is music, and when one really experiences, one is everything. This is the theme of "I The Beholder", the absolute power one has on their perception and Aeonium's desire to use this for good, for the manifestation of beauty. 

Over 4 years in the making, I The Beholder incorporates absolutely everything the Dutch multi-instrumentalist has in his repertoire, from several instrumentations on piano, santur, handpan and many more, to tape, synthesizer and field recording, all fuzzed through the creative process of digital production. From oriental house to wicked shuffles, from dubby basslines to ambient textures, this album represents the variety of music and their possible fusions when the listener sets their mind to really listening and taking this process as an active endeavor. Greatly enhanced by the beautiful sounds of Nienke Deiter, Frodi Fransman and Namasterri.

Looking through some old hard drives I discovered a collection of some of the earliest Merkaba songs that never saw the light of a release.

Back then my production was evolving swiftly so that when I put together my first EP for Zenon in 2010, The Thirteenth Step, all the tunes that came before that seemed redundant to me.
Sometimes as an artist when we have a large amount of time away from our early works and we re-discover them again and we are able to listen with fresh ears and with less self judgement.

Listening to these tunes again I can feel the pure joy, excitement and experimentation I was striving for as I birthed the Merkaba sound.

If you were on the dance floors of an Aussie Bush Doof around 2008-2011, you might remember this magical time.

3 months into the music production journey and still loving the process. Downloaded Vital to start creating my own synths which I used as the baseline and high pitched melody that's introduced later in the song. Played around with LFO, more automation features, and dampening energy then building it back up for drops using the Auto Filter. Also tried to make the kick drum punchier and sit more prominently using compression, EQ Eight and saturation. Pls give me feedback! x
