MERKBAR creates cinematic electronic music that invites the listener to vanish away in atmospheric and melancholic universes. The musical structure is never static, but always evolving, which results in complex rhythms that are different from a conventional ' 4 on the floor " beat. As in David Lynch's surreal narratives MERKBAR aim at breaking with traditional form, with the result that the listener never knows what's coming next. The music is innovative and has catchy rhythms and a strong melodic theme that affects deeply. With a stated goal of pushing the boundaries of electronic music, MERKBAR puts emphasis on creating musical spaces that gives room to exploring your inner.

MERKBAR is Jesper and David, situated in Copenhagen, Denmark. They studied Computer Music, with research interests in sound synthesis, digital signal processing, generative composition and the design of new digital instruments.

On the debut EP 'Phi' Merkbar addresses the interplay between chaos and control by examining the musical balance between repetition and change. This results in a complex myriad of musical structures with an interesting focus on the fine balance between musical expectation and surprise.
